“The $5 Reminder”
I met a woman today who changed my perspective on everything.
She told me she was once addicted to opioids. Said she tried to end it all — and technically, she did. They brought her back.
When she woke up, she found out she was pregnant.
The same woman who had been told as a teenager that she’d never be a mother… was carrying life inside her.
She left me this $5 bill as a tip. It’s torn, worn, and nearly destroyed. I can’t spend it.
But maybe I’m not supposed to.
I’m keeping it as a reminder that value doesn’t disappear just because something looks broken.
That grace can show up in the most unexpected moments.
That what seems like the end might just be the beginning.
This bill isn’t money anymore — it’s a message:
You’re still worth something. Even when life tears you apart.
