Yes yes folks!
We’re hyped to unveil the Heritage Room for Part 2 of BBE’s 30th Birthday at Number 90 on Bank Holiday Sunday 30th August .. and this time we are starting from 4pm!!
A seriously heavyweight line-up celebrating true BBE legacy — and this is just ONE of FOUR rooms!!!
More announcements coming soon…
About The Line Up:
AL KENT – Glasgow’s edit maestro and long-time BBE collaborator..check out the Disco Love series.🪩
KON & AMIR – Legendary Boston duo and elite beat-diggers across hip-hop, soul, jazz and funk. As Lord Finesse put it: “two of the most extraordinary but underrated in the game.”
JOHN MORALES – Bronx-born icon with 30+ years shaping dance music. From “Deadly Medleys” to 650+ remixes for giants like Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, Jocelyn Brown and Hall & Oates — a true pioneer.
RICH MEDINA – Globally respected DJ blending the full spectrum of Black music, plus a celebrated spoken word artist and journalist. A real one.
MR THING – Returning to join the room , heavyweight turntablist, Scratch Perverts member, DMC champ, compiler of Strange Breaks & Mr Thing and one of the nicest to do it. 🫡
DJ TUNESMITH – Hackney’s vinyl specialist, serving soulful selections from disco to broken beat. A staple from London to international stages and part of Eve’s Drop Collective.
VANESSA FREEMAN
The Voice. Vanessa emerges from rich lineage—the very holy grails—of Black music. Her journey began in the church and sound system culture, shaping a vocalist of rare depth and versatility. Equally at home commanding a stadium stage backed by a 30-piece orchestra as she is stepping to the mic in a dimly lit basement, weaving her soul into the darkest rhythm structures, Vanessa is the definition of dynamic. We are truly blessed to witness and experience her gift.

Practising tonight and had to test myself and see if this was possible off records with the S9, was a fun quick one to do.

Just got back home from Southport! Thank you so much everyone who came through to my sets and danced/partied and all that, was so much fun. Not going to attempt any kind of roll call but love to everyone who I got to catch up and hang out with and everyone who came and said hello too! I finally got to see Dwele live for the first time in my life, Brian Jackson on Saturday afternoon was fantastic, caught some of Luke Una and the Garage room was lively as always! Massive thank you to Nick and all the @southportweekender staff and crew for looking after us, another epic weekend!
Now - feet up and a cuppa.
Until next time!!
