I absolutely love @thebeachboys , and was saddened to see that the legendary @brianwilsonlive passed yesterday. He was a musical genius before people really had a grasp of what that could actually mean. His influence is about as broad and far reaching as you can imagine. Spend a few hours with the Beach Boys discography, I guarantee it'll nourish your soul.

Produced by #djtouché aka #fakeblood, there are so many amazing samples squeezed into this banger, including a big one from the 1960s Mission Impossible soundtrack and multiple 80s hip hop snippets. Add in the flutes, brass, bass and that famous 90s big-beat drums and we have a classic on our hands. In fact, it was used in a fairly popular #Budweiser commercial way back too.

There's so many great cover versions of this #LeonRussell classic (I've included a few sleeves in this video, go check them out) but this Carpenters version from their 1973 album, 'Now & Then' is one of the best.
A certain influential #ukgarage producer used whole heap of samples from this album on their own iconic LP a few years back. Not naming names but it makes a cameo appearance in this clip. You should most definitely take a listen to that too.

This is the debut single from Yu Hayami, from all the way back in 1982. It's an absolutely delightful bit of City Pop. I picked this one up last year and it's still in mint condition, with the beautiful picture sleeve, a sticker and even a little booklet with a survey to complete to join the fanclub (remember those? the original 'follow me and subscribe'). I obviously had to use Google lens to translate the sleeve, I can't speak/read Japanese. Maybe that'll be something to start learning this year?
PS anyone able to point me to somewhere that plays this kinda banger in London and surrounding areas?
