An announcement of selling out but much more importantly a sincere and heartfelt thank you to all the members of the bands who’ve agreed to play so we can raise money for our local community focused club (Carlton Town FC), and to each person that purchased a ticket, reached out with kind words and supported this first gig night away from our humble clubhouse 🇸🇪✊
From the bottom of my heart, and from our wonderful community - thank you @thisisprettywindows@therainage@boredmarsh ❤️
Another stunning night spinning tunes for @domgourlay@battlescar_sciatica@markmoore2605 and 3 wonderful bands on a school night ✊
As always, a pleasure to spin some of my collection to warm things up and keep the night noisy!
Absolutely loved the variety on the night with @yoodoowrong being one of the loudest I’ve experienced, @deadwoodsuperstar being one of the nicest crowds I’ve met big up and finally @sylvieshead who’s take on Madchester come age old rock n roll was a real treat 👏
Photo credit to the legend that is @nslackphotography for my new mugshot!
The end of season CTFC community photo grows year on year as a testament to the endless work of volunteers, the playing and coaching staff and, most importantly, our ever-growing supporters club! I’ve met lifelong friends following Carlton and fee privileged to be a small part of the club and fan base ✊
This season has been a rollercoaster with plenty of ups, very few downs and ultimately our highest ever finish as a football club with a rich history. Football-wise, personal highlights as always include trips away but numerous days at Stoke Lane have been unrivalled.
Away from the pitch, it’s been a successful first year for ‘The Shed End Presents…’ music night thanks to the support of all that attend but also the likes of Chris Unders, Ant Lord and Ben Marsh who help to ensure the night runs smoothly, and I end being able to enjoy them rather than flapping!
The season is also closely followed by our first gig away from the club as we’re proud, and super grateful, to put on 3 quality local bands in CTFC-aligned Pretty Windows, Rain Age and Bored Marsh at the Mist Rolling Inn in town - a sellout no less!
Some season, some club, but fundamentally, and above all else - some community 🟡🇸🇪🔵
13TH MAY - SYLVIE’S HEAD @sylvieshead
Some Velvet Evening presents: Sylvie’s Head
Formed in the industrial city of Gothenburg, Sweden in January 2024, SYLVIE’S HEAD aren’t just named after a My Bloody Valentine b-side. They’re the sound of Creation Records (RIP) past, present and future if they were still with us.
We first came across these at Gothenburg’s Viva Sounds festival where they were playing on a boat. Someone remarked it was like the ghosts of Flowered Up auditioning for Happy Mondays (24 Hour Party People Plastic Face.... and Bummed eras only because they’re the only Mondays records anyone really needs). Then they played an astonishing cover of Psychic TV’s “Godstar” before finishing with a song of their own, “Maintainer”, dedicated to Gary “Mani” Mounfield who’d passed away a few days earlier. We were hooked so went back for more 48 hours later at a jam-packed Pustervik where they just about lifted the roof off.
So, when we heard they were coming to the UK in May to play Focus Wales and The Great Escape showcases we had to bring them to Nottingham as well. This is a band happening now!
Supports comes from Derby’s finest psychedelic janglepop outfit DEADWOOD SUPERSTAR and Montreal’s Yoo Doo Right, who will be joining us for a rare UK date with their propulsive mix of post-rock, krautrock and psych-rock. Adding to this we welcome back DJ Casually Dan!

Friday was bloody good fun, thank you to @domgourlay@battlescar_sciatica@markmoore2605 for having me spin some records throughout the night - hopefully the selections added to what was a brilliant gig!
All 3 bands were great - big up @sisterraydavies@possum_kids@shallowdrown ✊
Oh and from now on, no venue is complete if it doesn’t have a DJ booth disco ball 🪩
A storming time had at @solonggoodfriday in Liverpool, spot on mini festival 👌
Venues and bands made it truly stunning, a few photos of the highlights but missing a photo of @gans.brum because that was chaos in the best way!
Our 4th go at ‘Shed End Presents…’ was another roaring success and our regular community seems to be building, alongside welcoming fresh faces each month ✊
Thanks again to @antlord4life , the wonderful human that is @mcgill5556 who put on a great little set for us and of course all those that turned out for us once more 👏
Another great night of music and community. The Shed End Presents: Volume 4. Eyes on @carltontownofficial socials for more editions and upcoming social events for everyone!
‘The Shed End Presents…’
Our 4th edition of the Carlton Town community music night is coming!
Building on the success of the first 3, with the combination of the much loved spin your own vinyl element alongside a local artist playing live - we can’t wait to welcome you to our humble clubhouse once more!
This month sees a man very well known on the local circuit for drawing great crowds with his eclectic catalogue of covers plus a side helping of his own material - Steve McGill, thank you Steve ✊
Support our local community club, whilst also having a top Friday night ✊

Credit to @antlord4life for organising this one, pure community spirit pulling together to raise funds for our club!
Poster, once again, by our very own Pretty Windows (Steve) - as always we are beyond grateful for all of your support and designs👏
Absolutely delighted to announce that we’ve added to our bill the undeniable local heroes @boredmarsh
Those of you that know me and a few others down the games know that their Idiot EP got rinsed on matchday sets and their most recent vinyl release has followed on in much the same suit. Adding the band also means the night has one hell of a lineup, and one I personally am buzzing for - both Pretty Windows & Rain Age are friends first and foremost, and have a bloody great sound add into that our very own vinyl DJs from our monthly music nights and we appear to have built a stormer of an early summer evening!
Feeling extremely grateful the lads said yes to supporting our first ever music night away from the club, along with other bands and DJs, to raise vital funds for our ground redevelopment project and we’re sure the remaining tickets will become hot property.
