🌟 Yellow Sweetlip on the Great Barrier Reef 🌊
Yellow Sweetlips are some of the reef’s most eye-catching fish, with bright yellow bodies, spotted heads and large, expressive lips. Their curious nature makes them a favourite among divers and snorkelers.
✨ What Makes Them Special: These medium-sized fish often hang around coral bommies and ledges. Part of the grunt family, they can produce a low grunting sound when disturbed. They are peaceful and unbothered by humans, making them perfect for photos.
🌊 Behaviour and Habitat: Yellow Sweetlips may swim alone or in schools, usually in shallow reefs with plenty of coral and rocks for shelter. They feed on algae and small invertebrates, and their presence is a good sign of a healthy reef.
💡 Fun Fact: Their oversized lips are perfect for picking food out of crevices, and their curiosity often brings them close to divers for a better look.
