Avenue C looks very different from the days of my youth but at least the @laplazacultural garden is still here!

I saw approximately 200 shows as a @dramadeskawards nominator this season, which is a tremendous and exhausting privilege. I’m so thrilled with the slate of nominees we chose—especially our special awards. Many of my favorite productions of the season are represented, including @mexodusmusical , Initiative at @publictheaterny , Are the Bennet Girls Ok? at @bedlambedlambedlam , Well, I’ll Let You Go, Rheology at @bushwickstarr , and Becky Shaw and Marjorie Prime at @2stnyc . I love how we spread our love around! See the full list of nominees at @dramadeskawards .

To misquote Janet, it was a gas to write about my favorite obsession: Rocky Horror, both the movie and the stage musical, for @3viewstheater . This personal essay / assessment is pegged to the new @rockyhorrorbway at @roundaboutnyc but it’s really mostly about me. And there’s a fabulous photo of me as Magenta a quarter century ago! Although it’s not as celebrated as The Piano Lesson or Fences, Joe Turner’s Come and Gone is one of my favorite August Wilson plays. The acting in this revival is exquisite, especially Ruben Santiago-Hudson. Link in my linktree.ee to my four-star review for @timeout_theater .

Yes, more content about The Balusters at @mtc_nyc ! In addition to moderating a talkback, I interviewed longtime pals and theatrical co-conspirators, playwright @davidlindsayabaire and his frequent scene-stealing star Marylouise Burke. They have the friendship we all wish we had!! This interview was a joy to write and, hopefully, to read. Bonus: it got a shout-out and a link in @helen_e_shaw ’s fabulous @nytimes review of the show. Experiencing and making art truly changes lives. The artists and participants involved in @carnegiehall ’s Musical Connections program at Sing Sing prison know that from firsthand experience. It was a privilege to write this feature marking 15 years of music making with incarcerated individuals through the program as well as the first public playlists of their songs! Link in my Linktr.ee.

On Wednesday, audiences at THE BALUSTERS were treated to a post-show conversation with playwright David-Lindsay Abaire and director Kenny Leon, moderated by Time Out’s Raven Snook. They reflected on the play’s inspiration, the process of bringing a new Broadway work to life, and collaborating with an incredible cast of 10. These conversations — paired with the live theatre experience — deepen the community’s connection to the work and highlight theatre’s ability to spark shared humanity and joy. In such a painful moment, @catsjellicleball is essential joy, a celebration of individuality, community, style and authenticity. If you need an infusion of hope, go see this production, yes, even if you’re not a Cats fan. You’ll also see the best dressed audience on Broadway!!!

Another Easter Parade down! Because of the rain, we made a last-minute decision to go and used old looks. Even the rain couldn’t ruin our fun!
