When I was first approached for this project, I didn’t know much about Harry Styles (I’m more into Arabic music #WaelKfoury 😅) but I was very excited to work with the one and only Myriam Boulos.

🎙 Il y a deux ans, L’Orient-Le Jour se demandait qui était cette créature nouvelle et exubérante. Si nous lui avions posé la même question aujourd’hui, nous aurions récolté une bonne claque en plein visage, administrée par une main bien manucurée.
@divabeirut , en 2025, est désormais une marque déposée. Une figure incontournable de la scène LGBTQ+ libanaise, en tout cas. Et pas seulement à Beyrouth : la Drag Queen s’est réfugiée en France depuis cet apocalyptique mois de septembre 2024, où Israël a plongé le Liban dans une guerre totale et douché les espoirs de tant d’artistes.
À l’approche de la trentaine, Serge Vahé Koukezian peut déjà se targuer d’avoir réussi son pari, celui d’avoir emmené son alter ego féminin sur les scènes de grands festivals parisiens, à l’Institut du monde arabe et dans plusieurs cabarets d’Europe. Les ambitions du Franco-Libano-Arménien originaire de Bickfaya ne s’arrêtent pas là, lui qui rêve de conquérir les capitales arabes et d’élargir la portée de son art.
Coiffée d’une perruque sculpturale et scintillante, Diva Beirut nous reçoit dans un studio beyrouthin, qu’elle a spécialement loué pour l’occasion. En retard, forcément. Mais l’artiste assume aussi bien ses caprices que ses rondeurs, dont elle se moque elle-même en se grimant parfois en shawarma géant.
