Another experiment for the OST I’m working on. Pairing GREAT CONJUNCTION with Zeptocore for some lofi goodness. This one is coming across a little nice/upbeat for the three remaining pieces of the soundtrack I need to work out. Doesn’t really fit a:
1) Mausoleum
2) Clown Pit
3) Giant Chomping Face
Well - it could be a chomping face - with the right crunching sounds.
I’ll probably throw this into another mode/scale and crank up the tempo a bit to give it a bit more tension.

Another test track from an OST I’ve been working on. Orchestral sounds in a dreamscape.
The Phantasmal Force is sending 5 different sequences to 5 different sounds on the MT32. Soundfonts turn the MT-32 into a versatile little box!

Last weekend at the Portland synth expo, several people asked me if my little USB-C to TRS-A MIDI adapter (cantrip) would work with the Ableton Move. I had just purchased and received my Move a couple of days before and had not even thought of trying it out.
I’m running the current beta of the Move and the cantrip seems to be working just fine.
My Kasser Arcade only has MIDI DIN - so it was a likely candidate to test.
The cantrip is the tiny clear box in between the Arcade on the left and the Move on the right.

See you next weekend at the PDX Synth Expo @synthexpo . Just playing around with my demo table. I’ll be sharing a space with @infinitedigits .
Stop by and test out all of my devices! I’ll be selling stuff at a discount at the show.
How much do you know about the weird and wonderful world of bytebeat synthesis? I knew very little... Until I got a hold of the Distropolis Prismatic Spray II, which sent me down the rabbit hole. #bytebeat #synthesizers #synthfreaks #musicstudio
Testing my table/display setup for a couple of upcoming expos I'll be attending.
I'm using an old Raspberry Pi 3B+ (black box beside the PSII) to open a locally hosted HTML file of the "Prismatic Spray II Viewer". The rpi is going composite straight into an old Apple monochrome monitor.
I've spent a bit of time optimizing to HTML so that it can run on the little Pi 3B+ from 2015.
The monochrome Apple monitor from the 80s still works - although it probably needs to be re-capped and calibrated. I'll also have a Commodore 64 monitor on my table to show the visuals in color.

Another sketch for an OST I've been working on. This run is a little more chaotic than the final track will be.
The Phantasmal Force is sending a slowly evolving sequence of 7 notes. I'm periodically changing the probability that a note will sound and the overall root octave for the sequence.
The N-Synth Super is the sound source and I'm dragging my finger across the touch pad to "morph" the sample sets determined by knobs in the four corners. I'm also playing the amp envelope. It's a strange beast and lacks some very basic features that I'm temped to add myself (CC control of the touch pad for one) - but I really don't have that kind of time. I'd also like to install the toolset to create my own banks ... but oh well. Who knows!
The Zoia is running a live granular patch I made that slowly pans and randomly slows down/speeds up the grains while modulating most of the grain parameters.
Another sketch for an OST I'm working on. The final song will be a little more drawn out and have some more textural elements, but I'm happy with the core of what I have now.
The M8 is driving the Prismatic Spray II with note data as an external instrument. It's also sending additional CC data to randomly turn the knobs, creating a randomized glitchy percussive backdrop.
The M8 is handling the main rhythm, bass and staccato chords.
Phantasmal Force is set up to quickly mute the M8 instruments.
An "in progress" sketch for an OST I'm working on.
My 2nd Zoia patch, "Dream Shrine #2", is a four voice, generative synth thingy with master tempo and adjustable meter for each voice. The voices are routed through a reverb and ping-pong delay module. The four voices are also sending MIDI notes out on different channels - which are triggering 2 harp voices, a vibraphone and a celeste voice on the MT-32.
The Zoia patch is also sending clock sync out to the Razz to keep it in tempo. The M8 is playing back creepy public domain samples from an old-sci radio show about an alien that haunts your dreams called "The Green Thing".
NTS-3 is chopping the drums.
Not sure if this will be the final configuration - I'd like some bass in there as well. Just playing around at this point.
The album is an ambient-ish OST that should be out by this summer!
