Not just a collaboration, but a meeting of minds and a recognition of how many hands it takes to bring a finished piece together. The Distinctive Studios Kipp project has recently been featured on the BBC’s Made It at Market. This felt like the right moment to share a little more of what it takes behind the scenes to achieve the final outcome and the people who make it happen. The initial concept sets the tone. A direction, a feeling, something you can’t quite see yet, but know with the right team it will come to life. From there, it’s shaped by craftsmanship. At Fox & Furb, Martin builds the foundations as a furniture maker, constructing each piece with strength and intention, while Hayley, as an upholsterer, brings it to life through detail, form and finish. It’s a balance of structure and surface, both equally defining the outcome. Material then becomes a crucial part of the conversation. Colours of Arley, with their bespoke, made-to-order fabrics, introduce colour, pattern and personality, your way as you can choose your pattern and combinations from a plethora of incredible tones. It’s not a straight line. It’s a back and forth, between idea, material and maker, each one informing the other, pushing the outcome further. As a creative director, curator and stylist, my role is to hold that process together, guiding the vision while ensuring each collaborator has their voice and input. It’s not a collaboration otherwise, and that’s something we value deeply at Distinctive Studios. A shared process. A layered outcome. Each project only exists because of every part and person behind it. #CreativeProcess #CollaborativeDesign #BespokeInteriors #ColoursOfArley #foxandfurb

A few of our favourite moments, curated and collected across projects. It’s never just about the space, but the details that define it. A curtain framing a doorway. A fireplace anchoring the focal point of the room. An entrance that shapes your very first impression of a space. Painted stairs turning something purely functional into a moment. Looking back, it’s rarely the full room that stays with you. It’s these layers, the quieter decisions that hold everything together. The elements that feel considered, but never overworked. As a creative director, curator and stylist, this is where the focus always lands, on composition, materiality, and the small moments that elevate the whole. #DesignDetails #InteriorMoments #CreativeDirection #InteriorStyling #BespokeInteriors

It definitely gets worse before it gets better. Not every space starts out beautiful and that’s exactly the point. Trusting your designer and the process, is everything here. There’s always a moment in the middle where things feel… off. The layers haven’t quite clicked, the colours feel louder than expected, and nothing looks finished. It’s the part no one really shows the in-between, where the vision is still coming together. But this is where the work happens. As a creative director, curator and stylist, my role often sits right in this stage, shaping the overall vision, refining the details, and holding the bigger picture while everything else is still in flux. Good design isn’t instant. It’s built, edited, and refined. It’s about letting a space evolve and trusting that what feels unresolved is actually part of something more considered, taking shape. These before-and-afters tell that story. Not just transformation, but patiencen holding your nerve long enough to let the vision land. So when you’re in that awkward middle stage, keep going. Don’t rush the process and trust it. Because the best spaces always have to get a little bit ugly first  #TrustTheProcess #DesignJourney #BeforeAndAfter #InteriorTransformation #CreativeProcess

Let’s be honest, PINK was never meant to play it safe. Not in our rule books anyway. 💗 Right now, interiors are shifting. It’s less about perfectly curated palettes and more about personality, contrast, and pieces that actually say something. Pink sits right at the centre of that, bold, expressive, and impossible to ignore. Across these spaces, it wasn’t about adding a hint of colour. It was about committing to it. Layering tones, mixing textures, and letting one confident choice lead the entire room. From high-gloss finishes to soft, tactile fabrics, pink has this way of feeling both current and completely timeless. The direction is clear: we’re moving away from safe neutrals and into spaces that feel personal, playful, and a little bit daring. So if you’re waiting for a sign to go bolder, lean in, trust your instinct, and don’t dilute the idea. Because the spaces people remember in 2026? They’re the ones that weren’t afraid to say more #PinkInteriors #ColourfulHomes #StatementDesign #LayeredInteriors #InteriorDetails

The connection between fashion and interiors has always felt instinctive. The way colour, texture and pattern come together, layered with confidence, shaping a space just as much as an outfit. From gothic tones to bold prints and unexpected moments of colour, it’s all about expression and contrast. Spaces, like style, tell a story. Each detail adds something, creating a mood that feels considered yet effortless. A shared language where interiors and fashion move together, influencing one another in subtle, but powerful ways ✨ Need some interiors advice or have any other queries? Get in touch. Stepped into the mind of Picasso at the Tate 🎨✨ From bold lines to wild imagination, every room felt like walking through a different chapter of art history. Still thinking about those colours and shapes… Picasso really said there are no rules.

Tracey Emin doesn’t ask you to look at her work, she asks you to feel it. Walking through the exhibition felt like moving through fragments of a life: love, loss, longing, memory. Nothing is polished, nothing is hidden. Just raw honesty, written in neon, paint, brass sculptures and confession. Some art you admire. Some art stays with you as a lasting fragment in your thoughts. .

A look behind the scenes at what it takes to get a project like this over the line. Working closely with architects, contractors, suppliers and the local council. Every detail has to be considered from the outset, shaping a scheme that feels right for the space while meeting the level of thought required for planning approval. It’s a collaborative process that takes time, care and a clear vision. Balancing creativity with precision, where each decision plays a part in moving the project forward and bringing the concept closer to reality.  Images show current layout versus CGI proposed plans. It’s always fun to see this evolution even at this stage. A considered approach that allows ideas to take shape in the right way ✨ Need some design support with your project ? Get in touch. Library transformation > From the very start, during, and after….thoughts. When the designer has two clients to consider, the producers booking the shoot location, and the homeowner/family living in the space. Creating a space that balances versatile backdrops, textures, and colours for shooting with comfort, practicality, and a space you’ll love to live in might seem tricky, but not for lead designer @siouxsie_dickens from @Distinctive_studios 🙌 This room is just incredibly sumptuous, from the cocooning colour drench, the contrast of the plum noir and pink, the way each corner is considered, a room to shoot or film in, as well as a space for the owners to entertain or just put their feet up with a book and a glass of something delicious with the fire roaring.
