Recently, Direct Relief delivered insulin to the Chronic Care Center in Lebanon, enough to support pediatric patients for six months. It’s part of a larger rush of emergency support to the hard-hit country, where Direct Relief has delivered more than $251 million in material medical aid since 2020.
Without insulin, people with Type 1 diabetes can quickly fall into medical crisis, and the Chronic Care Center provides comprehensive care to thousands of children and youth with Type 1 diabetes.
“We have many families who are displaced… We cannot run out of insulin because those patients, they depend on us,” said Michele Abi Saad, managing director at the Chronic Care Center in Baabda, near Beirut.

As the rainy season begins across South Sudan, cholera treatment supplies and emergency medical aid have arrived in Juba to support health services at Gorom refugee camp, where overcrowded conditions have increased the risk of infectious disease outbreaks.
Originally built for approximately 2,000 refugees, the camp now hosts more than 22,000 people displaced by conflict in neighboring Sudan.
Provided through Direct Relief in coordination with Peace Winds Japan, the shipment included cholera treatment kits, IV supplies, disinfectants, collapsible water containers, and a UNICEF-standard emergency medical tent to support outbreak response efforts in the field.

An Ebola outbreak has been confirmed in northeastern Democratic Republic of Congo, where health officials have reported 246 suspected cases and at least 65 deaths.
The outbreak involves the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola, which currently has no approved vaccine.
Direct Relief is monitoring the outbreak and has offered medical support to regional response partners, including Africa CDC, the International Organization for Migration, and Jericho Road Community Health Center @jerichoroadglobal in eastern DRC.
Access to protective equipment and infection prevention supplies will be critical to supporting healthcare workers and helping contain the spread of disease.

Direct Relief staff in Mexico recently partnered with volunteers from medical technology company BD Mexico @becton_dickinson to assemble 500 kits filled with personal care items ahead of the upcoming hurricane season. The event included the assembly of 250 individual kits and 250 larger kits for families containing basic hygiene and over-the-counter supplies, including toothbrushes, shampoo, combs, and other essential items intended to support communities affected by severe weather emergencies.
During the event, Direct Relief Mexico also announced a new agreement with BD Mexico that will support future in-kind medical donations from within the country, helping strengthen local response capacity and preparedness efforts ahead of future emergencies.

Гості оглянули навчальні простори, ознайомилися з діяльністю Школи медицини Університету UNBROKEN і поспілкувалися з лікарями, викладачами та учасниками навчань. На згадку про цей день на подвір’ї нового корпусу висадили магнолію.

Hospitalito Atitlán @hospitalitoatitlan provides care for more than 100,000 people across rural Maya communities near Lake Atitlán in Guatemala, including maternal care, emergency surgery, chronic disease treatment, and specialty services.
Despite treating hundreds of high-risk maternal cases, the hospital has had no maternal deaths for the past two years.
“If this case would have happened two years ago, we wouldn’t have been able to save them,” said Dr. Manuel González, the hospital’s executive director.
Since 2012, Direct Relief has provided more than $7.7 million in medical support to Hospitalito Atitlán, including medicines, medical refrigerators, and funding for a medical oxygen plant.

During this wildfire season, here are a few important reminders to help protect your health during periods of heavy smoke exposure.
Wildfire smoke can fill the air with harmful particulates and debris, which can have serious health consequences — especially for older adults, people with respiratory conditions or compromised immune systems, and those who work outdoors.
With support from @3M , Direct Relief maintains a stockpile of N95 respirators for deployment to wildfire and smoke-impacted communities, along with medications and emergency medical supplies commonly requested during disasters.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, Rabbi Yaakov Raskin and Chabad Jamaica (@chabadofjamaica ) helped reach thousands across impacted communities.
Supported by a Direct Relief grant, Chabad Jamaica launched a mobile mental health initiative to expand access to care through local providers.
“Thanks to Direct Relief, we’re going to be able to help our local brethren who got so brutally hit and traumatized from the hurricane with sustained relief on a regular basis,” said Raskin.
Direct Relief has provided more than $3.9 million in medical support to Jamaica since Hurricane Melissa made landfall.
