Enjoyed directing this year’s 6th Annual @urbanonehonors Urban One Honors! Bringing in other women of color as camera ops, my screens producer and my associate director, was a professional highlight. Losing my father has had a profound impact on me, as we laid him to rest and celebrated his life this past weekend. I can remember six years ago, the very day my mother passed away, that my father shared these words with my brothers and I. “Death is a part of life,” Papa said, “but it is FAITH that is the answer to it all.”
As I began caring for my father, watching him lose his eyesight, mobility and independence, he never once complained. His faith was the glue that helped him to embrace life with gratitude.
Every evening, when I would say goodnight to my dad he would always say “I love you dear, thank you for everything and take good care of yourself.” And now I say, “ I love you Dad, thank you for everything, and I as I take care of myself, I’ll have peace knowing God is taking good care of you.”
Thank you Papa, for everything! Take your rest, you’ve earned it ❣️
