From bus routes and pub shifts to red carpets and magazine covers, Dionne Smith’s journey is rooted in trust, timing, and talent.
Raised by a self-taught “kitchen beautician,” the London native never imagined hair as a career, even though it was always around her. What began as something she did on the side slowly became the thing calling her forward. “I’m enjoying this. I’m starting to fall in love with the hair that I was getting creative with,” she says.
The turning point came unexpectedly when a photographer walked into her salon and urged her to enter a hair competition. She listened, entered, and won, a moment that shifted everything.
From there came editorial work, fashion shows, and eventually a social media era that opened new doors, including a career-changing call from Venus Williams.
Today, Smith’s hands have touched the crowns of Jill Scott, Wunmi Mosaku, Samara Joy, and Golda Rosheuvel. Proof that sometimes purpose doesn’t arrive with a plan, it arrives when you finally say yes.
