Some stories need to be told carefully. This week we were on set with Crime Stoppers WA and the WA Police and an incredible cast and crew, shooting a campaign that we believe has the potential to change behaviour and save lives. I can't say too much yet — but I can say this: when the strategy is right, the story writes itself. This project came together in 4–6 weeks. Research. Stakeholder alignment. Audience psychology. Message testing. Long before a camera rolled, the hardest work was already done. That's always been our approach at Sixteen By Nine — strategy first, stories always. Because a beautifully shot film that says the wrong thing to the wrong person at the wrong time is just content. But when every frame is informed by a clear strategy and a deep understanding of who you're talking to and why — that's when creative work actually does something. More to come. “Rage”, raku sequin site intervention, shot by the always amazing @dionborrett I really wanted to challenge the meaning of this word through the location, positioning rage as a natural emotion that shouldn’t be suppressed, whilst the raku process mirrors the emotion itself, with the buildup of pressure and the eventual cathartic release. What a joy it was to host the ACS Cinema Lighting Masterclass in Perth last week. We had fantastic cast and crew with a full house of 35 participants in the spectacular location of His Majesty’s Theatre. A special thanks to the wonderful crew who volunteered their time, Blake Waldock the WA Branch president, who not only orchestrated and produced the entire event, he also operated Steadicam on the day, and all this while coming straight off a night shoot. Recent training and development with the team at 2D Films has included the gaining of Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) and Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate (AROC) for both Dan and Dion. Single and dual operator aerial work is a possibility for any projects that require cinematic capture from an elevated perspective 😎🎥🚁🎉
