Now We Arrive 🏉🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 From filming on Monday to delivering by Friday morning of the same week (!) our fastest and craziest post-production turnaround to date. It’s been a whirlwind! Capturing this 100-metre installation stretching the length of a rugby pitch at Scottish Gas Murrayfield was pretty surreal, not least because the sun shone (nearly) all day. Created by artist @claireluxtonart and commissioned by @skyscanner , the piece marks a huge moment for women’s sport in Scotland ahead of the upcoming Six Nations game where the Scottish team will take the pitch at Murrayfield for the first time. Proud to have played a small part in something that celebrates such a historic occasion for women’s sport here in Scotland - we can’t wait to see it screen in the stadium tomorrow. Post 4 from Laura Dinnett @dinnett_ more fun with train rigs. To move along train tracks at speed smoothly it took a lot of planning. We couldn't have a moving full sized steam train any where near the kids but had to visually sow the 2 together. The first clip is a small part of the edit before the near miss and photo 2 is the non-motorised bogey our rigger Johann and @beckibeckbeck built onto. Then the team pushed and pulled it up the track. We got our low angled shot from it and used a leaf blower on the wide. We built a fake port hole to have some representation of the train and Ava in the same shot but also moving. The 3rd photo on the collage is one of our train mounted camera positions and we also had another rig under the train footage shown in clip 2. Anything else train and Ava is VFX shot from the same position on 2 different days and laid on top of each other. Just to make clear this was a disused heritage railway line, only their specific trains run on this line, we had complete control of any traffic and their staff with us at all times. Post 3 @dinnett_ Rigs!! Here's a few of the train and tunnel rigs we did. Notice (photo3) we had to give the illusion of the tunnel being longer by blacking out one end and using a light box to create the tunnel shaped light at the end. Photo 1 + 2 The carriage rig was my favourite an idea from our director who had used it on another film. Took a while to install but worked a dream once in. Photo 3/4/5 Our stunt sequence in the tunnel with the kids. We used a motorised 'bogey' to travel along the track we had laid at speed with control and put a GF8 on top so we could go high and low (ideally it would have been a telescopic crane but we didn't have the money!!) This was used to shoot train POVs where we overlaid shots of the miniature train approaching. The 1' high miniature is an EXACT replica of the full sized steam train it even produced its own steam. Photo 6 A miniature set which we used a vari jib with a snorkel lens @beckibeckbeck expertly on the dancefloor on a deck and jib, I controlled panning left to right. That was a fun day! Post 2 from Laura Dinnett @dinnett_ Last Summer I had the privilege of shooting @jacquelinewilson_hq 's 'The Primrose Railway Children' shown on BBC1 just before Christmas. It was my biggest job as a DP to date. A challenging film to shoot with Steam trains, model trains, EXT night in Scotland in the Summer when you aren't allowed to shoot past 10pm due to kids hours! Entire station oner shots, dream sequences, shooting on railway tacks, laying our own railway tracks and potential train crashes. We shot on the beautiful K35s on the Sony Venice which I chose for the higher base rate. What a whirlwind but I was really happy with what we achieved with the budget and time given. Massive thanks to my amazing crew!
