Happy Throwback Thursday! Do you remember Greenhill House, which sat at the top of Hill Street? The house was demolished in the 1970's to make way for the town bypass next to Mitchell Hill. #tbt #ThrowbackThursday
Happy Monday everyone! We hope you've had a great start to the week so far. This morning, we have a beautifully atmospheric postcard titled 'Strathpeffer Among the Hills', dated from around 1900. Do you think the view has changed much?
Happy Throwback Thursday everyone! Today, we have a photograph of some happy hikers visiting Rogie Falls in Contin. We haven't been able to narrow down an exact year for this photo, but estimated roughly 1920-1940. Can you help us narrow it down further? #ThrowbackThursday #tbt
Good afternoon everyone! Today, we have an old photograph of a shop on the High Street dated 1912. It shows Thomas Nicol, Family Grocer and Wine Merchant. Do you recognise which building this is? They're advertising bottles of whisky for sale at 3 shillings - quite a bargain, don't you think?🥃
Happy Monday everyone! 🎉 As many of you know, our town is celebrating an incredible milestone - its 800th birthday this year! There are plenty of exciting events coming up across the community, so be sure to keep an eye out for what’s ahead @dingwall800
Our collection holds photos and artefacts from the 700th celebrations in 1926 - let’s see if we can bring that same crowd and community spirit together again for this one! 🥳
Happy Throwback Thursday! Today, we have a photo of a room from Coul House attached to the Mackenzie Baronetcy of Coul in the County of Ross. The house was built in 1821 and is now a hotel @coul_house_hotel . We have a collection of photos from Coul House when it was a lived-in residence, but don't have any dates for them. Can you help us narrow it down? #ThrowbackThursday #tbt
Happy Monday everyone! We hope you are having a great start to your week. This morning, we have a #MysteryMonday for you all. We have a photograph of a group of men working at what we reckon is a sawmill, but have no other information. Do you recognise where this is? Or any of the faces? Or can you help narrow down the date? Do you know what 'Romach 1909' is referring to? Any clues much appreciated!
Happy Monday folks! This morning, we have a #MysteryMonday for you. We have a photograph of a group in front of the hull of a boat, but no clue who they are, where it was taken, or what is happening. Do you recognise these people? Or have any idea when and where this was taken? Also, bonus points if you can spot the dog in the photo🐕
Happy Throwback Thursday! Today, we have a photo of J Fraser, Saddler on the High Street. Alongside saddles, some of the wares for sale include golf clubs, tennis rackets, cases, and other leather goods. We have the photo dated from 1880 - 1920, but do comment if you think you can help us narrow it down! J Fraser was open from 1817-1973, do you remember it? #ThrowbackThursday #tbt
Happy Monday everyone! To start the week off, we have a #MysteryMonday for you. We have this photo in our collection showing 10 members of the Royal British Legion Club bar staff. We have a rough estimate that it was taken sometime between 1960-1975, but don't have any names. Do you recognise anyone? Could you help us narrow down the date? Also, how fabulous are the ladies uniforms?!🤩 #MysteryMonday
Its Throwback Thursday time! Today, we have a rather rustic postcard showing Knockfarrel and the road to Strathpeffer looking very quaint 🐑 #ThrowbackThursday #tbt
Happy Monday everyone! We hope you are having a great start to the week. This morning, we have an old photo of Mr and Mrs MacIvor standing outside the door of Bailechaul Inn. The Inn was sadly demolished to make way for the ring road. It was just west of Donati's restaurant on High Street. We have the photo dated from 1880-1900, but if you can see any clues to narrow it down even further, comment down below! Bailechaul is Dingwall in Gaelic, and it translates to town of the cabbages🥬 🥬 🥬
