Calling all songwriters, producers, and music artists: this is your moment to stand up and stand together. 🎶 Too often, critical decisions about your rights, compensation, and creative future are made without the voices of the very people who create the music. That has to change That’s why joining @wearesona_ is so important. SONA advocates for legislation, fair compensation, stronger protections, and real representation for working songwriters and composers across the country. When we come together, we are stronger. When we organize, we are heard. 💪 We protect our own — because if we don’t, no one else will. 🎤

Street Smart wasn’t just a title—it was survival. I built my career in rooms where women were underestimated every single day. What I learned is this: getting in the room is hard enough, but staying in the room is even harder! The women who rise in business aren’t always the loudest—they’re the ones who stay strategic, read the room, don’t take anything personal, stay resilient, and help other women rise along the way. You don’t have to become “one of the guys” to succeed in a man’s world. You just have to know your value, trust your instincts, and never shrink your voice. 💋 Get my motivational book- “Street Smart: Succeeding in a Man’s World” for more tips! This week was powerful. I flew to Maryland and back within 24 hours to stand beside Governor Wes Moore as he signed the Protecting Artists’ Creative Expression Act — the PACE Act — into law. This groundbreaking legislation protects artists and songwriters from having their creative expression used against them in court as evidence of criminal conduct — a practice that has disproportionately targeted rap and hip hop artists for far too long. At its core, this is a First Amendment issue. Artistic expression is not a crime. With the passage of the PACE Act, Maryland now joins California and Louisiana in taking an important stand to protect creative freedom and the rights of artists. This is progress. And we’re just getting started. #1stAmendment #creativitynotaconfesson  #PACEAct #FreeOurArt #BMAC

MARYLAND JUST MADE HISTORY. Today, Gov. Wes Moore signed the PACE Act into law, creating some of the strongest protections for artistic freedom in the country. For too long, creative expression in hip-hop, has been used against artists in courtrooms. We’re proud to stand alongside the advocates, lawmakers, and artists who helped make this moment possible. Art is not evidence. We still have more work to do!!! #PACEAct #FreeOurArt #BMAC #artisticfreedom

Happy Mother’s Day mom in Heaven. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about what you used to say when we were growing up, “I just want my kids to be happy and healthy.” Now as a mother myself, I finally understand the power of those words. I know you would be very upset with what is happening in the U.S. right now and I can hear you tell me every morning- “Dina we always stand up for what we believe in and help people- nothing like getting into some good trouble”. I appreciate how you raised us and what you taught us. We carry it down to our children and teach them what you taught us. #mothersday

I had a wonderful time speaking at @uclaextension ’s “Music in Film” event earlier this week. From teaching the music business class for almost 20 years to joining panel discussions, UCLA will always hold a special place in my heart. I’m grateful to continue sharing knowledge, experiences, and inspiration with the next generation of creatives shaping the future of entertainment.

I’m turning 60 this year. I came of age in a time when this country—through protest, sacrifice, and relentless courage—began to reckon with its oppressive and racist past and put real protections in place for Black and Brown communities. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 wasn’t just legislation—it was a promise. A promise that access to the ballot would not be denied based on race. A promise rooted in the bloodshed on the Edmund Pettus Bridge during the Selma to Montgomery marches. And now, that promise is being dismantled. This is about social justice. About equity. About whether every voice truly counts. Remember this moment EVERYTIME there is an election. Nothing changes if nothing changes. #ProtectTheVote #VotingRightsAct #DemocracyMatters #FreedomToVote

Attending the @billboard Women in Music last night was an honor.  It was so great being surrounded by so many amazing friends and colleagues.  I was so proud to support my friend Beth Matthews, CEO of ASCAP, as the Executive of the Year and celebrate her dedication to songwriters. #billboard #WomeninMusic #BBWomenInMusic
