With the unsettling surge of AI content, I have to lead by example, and not have an AI-generated image as my profile. So, I’m updating my meet-the-bookstagrammer post, with 100% human generated content! 🩷 My name is Dima. I am a 39-year-old Palestinian, currently living in Prague, Czechia. ❤️ I am doing my PhD in Computer Science, specifically in Natural Language Processing. I do work with AI a lot, which includes generative AI. However, I do not condone the use of AI in creative veins. Creating art is an inherent human trait, and all AI can do is copy and steal it! 🧡 I started this account at the end of 2022 to document some activities I do, but it organically turned into a book account. 💛 I’ve always been a reader - I was encouraged from a young age by my parents, grandparents, aunts, and cousins to read. 💚 My favorite genres are fantasy and contemporary romance, but I also enjoy classics, dystopian, sci-fi, and a bit of thrillers. Also - I’m a mood reader, which is not always convenient. 🩵 I am a collector of stuff - my favourite collection is editions of Alice in Wonderland in different languages from places I travel to! 💙 I love doing jigsaw puzzles, although now, with my studies and living space, it has been difficult to indulge. 💜 I mostly read ebooks and audiobooks, but I love physical books, too. 🖤 Even though I read almost exclusively in English (it is the language I use the most in school, at work, and in my day-to-day), I also speak Arabic, French, and Greek. 🩶 I love playing video games. I am known to dabble with the Sims 4, and I have a Switch with a lot of Mario games and the most time spent on Stardew Valley. 🤍 I would like this to be a safe space. If you take away one thing from me today, let it be that this series is a must read! This is the second book in the My Dear Illusion series, and it shouldn’t be missed. And going into this book was even more enjoyable the My Dear Illusion - a perfect book in its own right - because you go in knowing the real relationship between the different characters. This is what makes the events have a more profound impact. I cannot wait for the third book to come out! And special thanks to @sarahreadyauthor for the ARC, and for humouring me whenever I slide into her DMs! And to @netgalley as well - they just didn’t have to put up with me thinking I’m funny! I read in April almost as many books as I did in the first quarter of the year! I’m happy to report that I am on a series kick - as in, I am completing the series I’m starting. And most of my reading this month was audiobooks while I’m doing jigsaw puzzles! Here are the highlights: This month I * Read Say You’ll Remember Me series and now I’m an Abby Jimenez Fan * Read Maybe This Time by Cara Bastone which was so cute! * Reread Done and Dusted, and then finished the Rebel Blue Ranch series by Lyla Sage, and went on to read Soul Searching as well. * Read two books I’ve had on my TBR and have been postponing forever: Tourist Season by Brynne Weaver and And Now, Back to You by B. K. Borison. As expected, neither disappointed! * Read Finlay Donovan is Killing It with a new online book club I joined, and I’m glad that we’ll be reading Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em Dead in May! * Read The Palladium by Thorsten Brandl, which also happens to be my first physical book read this year! * Read a book with the most interesteing title: Regrettably, I’m About to Cause Trouble by Amie McNee. Although it wasn’t entirely my cup of tea, I didn’t hate it! * And last but certainly not least, I FINALLY read the Daevabad trilogy! I picked The City of Brass for my Book of the Month in December 2017 and it’s been sitting on my shelf since then! I got my aunt to read my physical copy, and I breezed through the audiobooks! I also started The River of Silver, but didn’t manage to finish it by the end of the month, but hopefully today!
