What do we do? We get asked that a lot! We put together a booklet that gives a clear overview of the work we do. It’s been so popular that we knew it needed to be on social media too. Yes, there are a lot of words… but that’s because we do a LOT of exciting things! Have a swipe through and see what catches your eye.👀 Maybe you’re a parent looking for resources about the digital world, or a headteacher wanting to upskill your staff. Whatever you need, we’re here to help. Email [email protected] or [email protected] depending on which service you need. #teachung #ymca #charity #education #schoolswork parenting resources healthy relationships

The Dignify Report is officially live! In the academic year 2023-2024 we surveyed 7,748 children across the UK on their experiences of p*rn, s*xual harassment, s*x education and more. This stat is one of many that we collected that reveal the shocking reality of p*rn use in such young age categories. Our report, launched in an exclusive with Good Morning Britain, is a must-read for parents, carers, teachers, politicians and anyone who wants to see this next generation thrive in healthy relationships, free from the harms of p*rn. 32% of children is 32% too many. Join us as we fight to see this number reduced We are grateful to our incredible team who have put this report together, and continue to work with children across the UK to champion them into healthier relationships with themselves and others. The Dignify Report found that 86% of children who have seen p*rn once, have gone and looked at it again. This is not just an accidental stumble across some inappropriate content that is promptly forgotten about, this is repeated viewing that is leading many to addiction. Research by another organisation, Fight The New Drug has found that 88% of p*rnography contains forms of physical aggression, including sp*nking, gagging and slapping. 48.7% of p*rn includes extreme verbal aggression. Paired with our research, we are learning that children are not just repeatedly seeing some mildly inappropriate content, but are likely being exposed (repeatedly!) to extremely graphic, violent and harmful content. Over 1 in 4 children who have seen p*orn are already addicted to it. Addicted to violent, abusive content that promotes unrealistic and misogynistic views of sex. This is not on. This is not what we want for our children, and the younger generations. At Dignify we want to see children thriving in healthy relationships free from the harms of p*rn. To find out more about what our research discovered, tap the link in our bio, and follow to stay up to date with what we are doing to challenge these statistics. We had such a brilliant day at the SAAShow yesterday! Thousands of inspiring educators and leaders came together with one shared goal: helping children thrive. It was a privilege to represent the safeguarding side of education and spark conversations about online harms, healthy relationships, and why high‑quality RSE matters more than ever. So many teachers don’t have the time, resources or data they need — and that’s exactly where we step in. From our School Survey to our resources, staff training and parent workshops, we’re here to support schools with expert‑led, evidence‑driven solutions. Didn’t get to chat with us at the stand? Drop us a message — we’d love to connect! #ymca #education #teaching #schools #parenting

Still thinking about Sunday 🏅🏃‍♂️🏙️ We were so grateful to have had 4 incredible runners taking part in the London Marathon for @oneymca : Martyn, Shaun, Bethany and Leah. They battled through months of training, injuries (both before and on the day!), and a hot sunny race day in London to support the work that we are doing. The money you donate to cheer them on helps us keep supporting young people across the UK, through our surveys, workshops, teacher training, parent workshops and more. We are so thankful. Donations are still accepted for the next month. Please donate via the link in our bio and bless these runners with a bonus “well done”! Thank you so much. #dignify #ymca #parenting #londonmarathon #teaching

Hey. Let’s talk. Addiction is not something we want children growing up with — whether it’s alcohol, drugs, or other harmful habits. And p*rn use is one of them. P*rnography addiction is a serious mental‑health concern. It shapes how children and young people come to understand relationships, consent, and self‑worth. It also carries real health risks. Compulsive p*rn use has been linked to p*rn‑induced erectile dysfunction (PIED) in males, caused by desensitisation of the brain’s reward system. People of any gender may also experience disrupted sleep, heightened stress, hormonal imbalance, and reduced physical activity linked to excessive screen use and compulsive behaviour. Repeated exposure to violent or degrading content can also normalise aggression within intimacy, increasing the risk of harmful or coercive behaviours later in life. Through our School Survey, we are seeing the impact first‑hand. Many children are already struggling with addiction. Each week, we read responses from young people describing how it affects their minds, their relationships, and even their ability to concentrate and learn at school. This is not what we want for our children. We want them thriving in healthy relationships — not bound by addiction. That conviction is what drives us to keep speaking out about p*rn. So where are they learning from? For many children, social media and p*rnography are where they are turning for education on sex and relationships. Spaces that perpetuate unrealistic standards and normalise violence. Parents - we are here for you. We recognise that you're in a unique position to be able to shape your children's understanding about healthy relationships and sex in a positive and non-judgemental way. But we also know those conversations can be terrifying! Our Dignify Parent Guide is a free resource available at parents.dignify.org, designed to help you as a parent navigate these conversations, from age 0-18! Download it now or view our other resources at parents.dignify.org Source: Dignify National Report 2024 #education #parenting #teaching #research #charity

📣The past week has marked a significant moment in UK policy, with the Government tabling a series of amendments to the Crime and Policing Bill following proposals put forward by Baroness Gabby Bertin and Jess Asato MP. Yesterday, Baroness Bertin spoke in the House of Lords about these amendments... ⚖️These amendments will: - Criminalise depictions of incest, step-incest, and foster relationship p*rnography involving children - Criminalise adults portraying children under the age of 16 in p*rnographic content - Criminalise the creation and supply of nudification tools - Introduce powers for the Government to mandate robust age and consent verification for individuals featured in p*rnographic content, including ensuring the ability to withdraw consent at any time. A 12-month review will assess how these powers will be implemented These changes represent a critical and long-overdue step forward in UK legislation. Thank you to Baroness Bertin, Jess Asato MP, Gemma Kelly, and all ministers, peers and members of the P*rnography Harms Coalition whose sustained efforts have made this progress possible. While there is still more to be done, particularly in achieving stronger online and offline parity and ensuring effective enforcement of the Online Safety Act and these amendments, this moment is certainly worth celebrating. It brings us closer to a safer environment for those involved in p*rnography, and for those impacted by its harms. At Dignify, we are proud to be part of the P*rnography Harms Coalition and remain committed to a future where children are protected from the harms of pornography. Tackling extreme (and now criminal!) content is a vital step towards that goal. Find out more about what we are doing by visiting dignify.org #politics #advocacy #houseoflords #policy #charity #ymca

At Dignify, we are all about healthy relationships online and offline. That includes the relationship you have with yourself... how you see yourself, how you treat yourself and how your view of yourself then impacts others. Comparison is something so many of us struggle with. Whether its comparing body image, success, or popularity, comparison often leads to bringing yourself down, and trying to bring others down with you. That is not healthy. So many young girls, in particular, are telling us that they are struggling with comparison, with social media as a major trigger and fuel. Our workshops, lesson packs and resources seek to educate children, teachers and parents on how to navigate the online world wisely, so that comparison doesn't have to be a trap that people fall into, but a behaviour that can be recognised and mitigated. To find out more about what we do, or to view our resources, visit dignify.org #education #parenting #socialmedia #comparison #healthyrelationships
