Through the LGBTIQ+ Equality Strategy and the Digital Services Act, the EU is turning commitment into action:
🚫 No targeted ads based on sexual orientation
🚩 Easier reporting of hate speech and cyberharassment
2025 was the warmest year ever recorded, and Europe is heating up faster than any other continent.
🌡️ About 95% of the continent saw above-average annual temperatures, registering the second most severe heatwave ever.
🔥 Wildfires burnt the largest area recorded (over 1 034 550 hectares) and affected about 500 people.
🌧️ While 2025 ranked among the 10 driest in 47 years for precipitation, storms and flooding caused at least 21 deaths and affected about 14 500 people.
🌊 The annual sea surface temperature was the highest ever, with 86% of the region experiencing strong marine heatwaves.
❄️ Glaciers in all European regions saw a major mass loss of about 31%, with end of the season snow being the third lowest ever.

🔹 89% of young Europeans used social media in 2025, more than the rest of Europeans
🔹 98% used the internet every day
🔹 24% engaged in civic or political issues online and were also more likely to express their opinions
🔹 On average, young people used AI twice as much as other age groups

💡 The world is changing, are we keeping up?
From being able to read the news to transferring money, booking flights or filling in taxes, digital skills are some of the most essential skills of the 21st century.
In 2025, 93% of people in the EU used the internet at least once a week, yet 40% of EU citizens still lack basic or above basic digital skills.
And the age is also a factor: only 33% of people aged 65-74 have at least basic digital skills, contrasting with 75% of Europeans aged 16-34.
By 2030, the EU aims to have 80% of the population with at least basic digital skills.
