Quite happy how this vase turned out. Only small crack easy to avoid (don't put to fire before its dry-wait 2 days at least 😜). I was making similar tiles and small soup dishes 12 years ago following a trip to Mauritius when I had a small studio in Royal Stafford in Burslem. It helped me to get into MA Ceramics as part of my portfolio! Sometimes the live is taking loops.. more like a spiral as the canvas now is 3D-printed parian porcelain #digitalcoiling #digitalfabrication #3dprintedceramics #3dclayprinting #parametricdesing

Thanks to Anny @digit.granny for giving up a whole day- see below. 15 GREEN GRADS are taking part in total. REPOST @digit.granny 🌍 Earth Day 2026 On 22 April, I will join 14 brilliant GREEN GRADS at the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School in Islington to celebrate Earth Day 2026 — a day dedicated to creativity, sustainability, and inspiring the next generation. I will be sharing my project Digital Grotto, a work that begins in virtual reality and becomes real through 3D printed clay. The installation includes my 3D scanned figure standing before a monolith inspired by Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke — a symbol of stepping into new knowledge and new worlds. Now that NASA has completed the Artemis II mission, the future feels closer and more tangible. This new era of exploration reminds us that today’s young people will shape tomorrow’s future. Some of the girls we meet may one day be 3D printing houses on the Moon, using the same principles of layered construction that we explore in clay 😊 3D printing with clay belongs to this wider spirit of innovation. It uses only the material required, produces almost no waste, and allows me to design, test, and refine complex forms digitally before I touch the clay. This approach reduces unnecessary prototypes, minimises environmental impact, and encourages a more thoughtful relationship with resources. It is a way of making that honours the deep history of ceramics while embracing sustainable, forward looking technologies. To honour Earth Day, I will teach the girls the oldest clay technique of all: making coils — and we will see what we create together by the end of the day. Long before VR, printers, or Moon missions, humans built everything from simple coils. The girls will become “clay printers,” building a piece layer by layer, just like the Digital Grotto. Huge thanks to @greengradsuk GRADS and our founder Barbara Chandler @sunnygran for bringing together such an inspiring group of eco minded makers, designers, and thinkers. Big thank you to Michael Czerwinski @maczerwinski for coordinating this event with such professionalism and dedication. I am so excited!

Heading to London for Earth Day 2026 with @greengradsuk !Looking forward to visiting Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School to talk with the students about sustainable practices and share some ideas for a greener future. I’ll be presenting my small Grotto light installation and show how I created it. We will be talking about new technologies and dream abou space travel! As part of the day, we will be trying to work like a 3D printer, building a big bowl from coils to explore how manual craft and technology can intersect for sustainable design. Plus, I am bringing some special small 3D-printed elements donated by @piotr_wasniowski  as prizes for the girls who manage to make the longest coils! It will be so much fun! 😃 It’s a privilege to be part of these conversations and see how we can all contribute to meaningful change. 🌍 #GreenGrads #EarthDay #SustainableDesign #EGA #digitalcoiling

Soya milk, kitchen scraps, and nettles 🌿 My first time naturally dyeing as part of some experimental work for the upcoming GREEN Exhibition at Great Bear gallery Testing results from red onion skins, red cabbage, and nettles (though the nettles were a bit of a letdown!). It was fascinating to see the ferrous sulfate and bicarb modifiers work their magic on the final tones. Love the colours from the red cabbage! Thank you @aliciawalkertextiles for your advice!! #naturaldye #greenexhibition #greatbeargallery #sustainableart #greengrads
