#ThrowbackThursday to December 2022 when Kasabian toured with a #DiGiGrid MGB and DiGiCo Quantum 338! Supplied by Britannia Row Productions, long term DiGiCo users, FOH engineer, Rob Waite, and Monitor engineer, Jamie Hickey, specified their consoles of choice; the compact Quantum 338 at FOH and a Quantum 5 for monitors, with two accompanying SD Racks. "The Tubes on the Mustard processing are highly versatile, and you have more choice on distortion, which is very useful for a band like Kasabian who use a lot of distortion on vocals and drums. The bigger, brighter screens are a lot easier to use in daylight, and the automation system and general user interface are as flexible and useable as ever. I also have two DiGiGrid MGBs running to allow me to record from the console. The bottom line is it’s an old friend with some exciting new bells and whistles. And they’re complemented by L-Acoustics K1 and K2 PA, which means we’ve got a system that delivers all the horsepower a band like Kasabian needs.” Hickey’s monitor count is 92 inputs from stage, including talkbacks, clicks, triggers and comms, with around 40 outputs, all spread across two shared SD Racks running 32Bit I/O cards, with Con Send/Receive running between FOH and monitor consoles to increase the communications network between the band and all the crew members. There are two DiGiGrid MGB interfaces plugged into the MADI ports to multitrack record at 96K. He is also running Waves SuperRack and Live Processor from the Quantum 5’s built in Waves card. #WhyDiGiGrid #LiveSound #PlugIn #SoundEngineer #AudioEngineer #Audio #LiveShow #DiGiGrid

Seasoned Live Sound Engineer, Fred Flori, Live Sound Solutions, has recently been on tour with French pop artist, DISIZ using a #DiGiGridIOC, #DiGiGridD and a #DiGiGridIOS-XL. With credits including Orelsan, Woodkid, The Young Gods to name a few, Fred relies on his trusted DiGiGrid IOS-XL at the monitor desk to interface to the SoundGrid environment. “It is at the heart of my touring systems right now” says Fred, which is where we think it should be as well. Fred continues that “The ease of using the different pieces, mixed with the SoundGrid driver routing possibilities make it a go to for everything I want to do”. A DiGiGrid D also helps him at home or to set up quickly and do tests on files before going out to shows. “It’s super handy to have a small interface to lug around in my backpack and not have to carry racks around for these tasks”. Which is also accompanied by his DiGiGrid IOC as his local in/out rack for his LV1 system, giving him all the flexibility he needs when showing up to a venue or festival. In this #TechTuesday, we’re going to look at how we can use the #DiGiGrid IOC in this hybrid system of switching to analogue gear in workflows If you have a mastering studio and you have analogue and digital mastering outboard gear, you need the DiGiGrid IOC. The IOC interface can connect your analogue gear to the analogue I/O DB25 connectors and the digital units to the AES DB25 connectors. If you need more I/O you can connect an ADAT converter to the ADAT ports, add another IOC or another #SoundGrid compatible device via Ethernet. Now this is connected, you can now patch your inputs and outputs to and from your computer in the PATCH tab. In your DAW you can name your inputs and outputs accordingly to the outboard gear connected to it. If you add a SoundGrid server to your system you will be able to combine your outboard with plugins in real-time. To do this insert your plugins into the signal path to or from your outboard by using the SoundGrid Studio Mixer. Having the IOC in your recording or mastering studio allows you a flexible implementation and routing of your analogue and digital outboard gear at low-latenc#recordingstudio #TechTuesday #WhyDiGiGrid #LiveSound #PlugIn #SoundEngineer #AudioEngineer #Audio #Recording #RecordingEngineer #RecordingStudio

Gateway Studios & Production Services Chose four Quantum Consoles, two Quantum338's and a pair of Quantum5's to offer its clients “the most robust, flexible, and scalable work surfaces on the market”. In addition to the four consoles, GSPS also acquired four DiGiCo SD-Racks and an SD-MiNi Rack, all fitted with 32-bit “Ultimate Stadius” microphone pre-amps, as well as a DiGiGrid MGB 128-channel recording interface and four Waves SoundGrid Compact Extreme Server-C units with Waves Axis One 1 computers optimized to run Waves audio applications. “The DiGiGrid MGB interface is a seamless and reliable way to connect peripherals to the consoles, such as MADI to Ethernet for Pro Tools to record performances,” Clark explains. “And the Waves SoundGrid servers’ integration is phenomenal. With the Axis 1 System, it’s a complete turnkey system.” #DiGiGrid #MGB #DiGiCo #DiGiGridMGB #digitalmixing #digitalmixer #WhyDiGiGrid #livesound #soundengineer #audioengineer

Long-time DiGiGrid user and FOH engineer, Stanley Soares, is currently on tour in Europe with Megadeth and a DiGiCo Quantum 338. With credits including Motorhead, Devin Townsend, Juanes to name a few, Stanley relies on his trusty DiGiGrid MGB to record the shows and for virtual soundcheck. “It’s incredible what this little box can do” says Stanley, and we couldn’t agree more. "The possibility of sending audio at any direction with a really simple setup, I can use it to record/playback but I also can use it for instance to route signals to plugins with Waves SuperRack.” When touring stopped during the pandemic, Stanley kept busy mixing live shows, tracked using his MGB. And now touring is back up and running Stanley comments "The shows are incredible, it's a great feeling to be back doing what I love and you can see how much the fans have missed live music." A different venue every 2 days, this is the normal life of a touring engineer. Not all tours or bands can afford to buy or rent a full console for this. Which means the engineer must work with a different house console each time. Using a #DiGiGrid MGB makes it possible to use your #Waves Plugin channel strips on every MADI- enabled console. Just connect your MGB via MADI to the console and via ethernet and a switch to your computer. Having a DGS- XL connected to your switch enables you to use your plugins with Waves Superrack at lowest latencies inserted to your console channels, monitor paths, etc. The MGB supports up to 128 channels at 48kHz or 64 channels at 96 kHz, so there is enough reserve for all your needs. If you already own the Waves LV1 mixing system you can use it instead of the house console by getting all input streams from and your outputs back via MADI. So you will always have your own workflow with you. If you still need more inputs or outputs you can easily expand the system with our other DiGiGrid products like the IOS-XL, the IOX, the IOC or our desktop series. #TechThursday #WhyDiGiGrid #LiveSound #PlugIn #SoundEngineer #AudioEngineer #Audio #Recording #RecordingEngineer #RecordingStudio
