Fashion is Art. The 2026 Met Gala revolves around the Costume Institute’s new exhibition at the @metmuseum , titled “Costume Art.” exploring “the centrality of the dressed body” across the Met’s vast collection.
This year’s exhibition theme highlights the cruciality of the dressed body in the context of art, shining a spotlight on both the connection between clothing and the body and the ways in which fashion has become an indelible part of artistic representations of the body and humanity in history.
The way we understand the clothed body through the suit is super important. Jean Paul Gaultier’s intriguing, abstract, and often dramatic bodycon staples are exceptional. Gaultier was the first designer to introduce men’s couture.
