I styled a Grammy winner. Next level unlocked. I got to work with my beautiful talented friend who came to me and asked me and actually took all my guidance to the letter and what a rock star she is. We pulled pieces she already had and spent an epic day @ysl 🔥 I loved that she was brave enough to rock the full shades on the red carpet and channeled some serious Elvis vibes with her own spin. My favorite piece was the heavy @ysl chain that she will own forever and is the epitome of cool just like Carla. She and @elibeech are two of my favorite humans in my life and this award couldn’t have been bestowed on a more deserving artist. In fact, this Grammys was the first where women swept all the major categories. Oh man, she did it. She got up on the bed and opened the “Duane Reade bag with the handles tied”. She’s so epic. It was an incredible show, with set pieces and costume changes but just @lilyallen with her pain made into art on stage alone. To say I respect what she’s done would be an understatement. She’s a Hollywood wife who didn’t swallow the betrayal and get sick but made it into something cool. I can see she already knows what I’ve learned, that the death of the dream, being the perfect wife to hold up someone else’s facade isn’t worth it and there’s a whole second act on the other side. Honor of a lifetime, the kids and I met Debra Van Valkenburgh at the @academymuseumscreenings last night and she was everything you hope your heroes would be. I was sitting behind her when she came in, and I knew it was her instantly. She’s still so so beautiful. When I introduced myself and the kids I told her that my boyfriend in college did his Colombia Film school Thesis on The Warriors and I had seen it countless times. I told her she was the most badass dark haired woman on film I’d ever seen and I tried to take a little of her forward in the world with me. She said she did that too, picked women she related too, and then she looked back and forth between me and Culla and said, “I relate to both of you.” ❤️ We follow each other on Instagram now but I won’t advertise her private account but man on man I would lap up anything a woman this cool and talented wanted to show me. The absolute coolest, a class act, AND she did that entire film, running up and down the stairs, fighting, flying through the subway, in 5 inch Block HEELS. Women just do it better. @mrbenmckenzie is both deeply intelligent and very funny both of which are on display in his new doc @everyoneislyingfilm 💸 Culla Mae and I went to the screening and I am so impressed by what the film pulls off, it’s a really good, engaging, fast-paced, funny movie about Crypto. And Ben is also one of the goodest human beings I know and he’s always been consistent even when I met him on Adam Brody’s porch 16 years ago. Go support this film, the message is urgent and the talent behind it so worthy of all the accolades.
Please Please Please is on its’ festival run and has been recognized in Cannes and Paris and now Atlanta. One day soon we will get it together to travel out to our next locale. Oh my @capnnate be with me always. From a cowboy themed @rupaulsdragrace viewing to an old school vaquero bar with a live drag performance on a hot night. The woman who ran the bar in the smoking section! sold cellophane wrapped bags of homemade potato chips with lime and salt and @tapatiohotsauce and you had to zelle her to pay.
