due to a leak going undiscovered for about a week, & the truck sitting after said leak was fixed for some time, we have mold. & a lot of it. (not once have i had to deal with mold). i’ve made the decision to pull the camper off the truck & rebuild myself, with next to no carpentry experience (it’s wood framed).

but as most of you are probably thinking; fking why? why do i refuse to let this truck die & move on? four 22R’s, 3 clutches, countless tuneups, multiple breakdowns (both physical & mental), this truck has put me through the damn ringer. & really, I’m not exaggerating.

because it’s a part of me now. i have lost, found, lost, found, lost & found myself driving & living in this truck for the last 8 years. it may take the prize of most unreliable Pickup/Hilux in existence. but damnit, she’s mine. Amelia has been my one & only constant within the last 8 years. housing, money, relationships all come & go; but not this truck. bought with 64K miles, we’re about to roll over 209K. maybe 100 of those miles are from someone else behind the wheel. now that she is admittedly running pretty damn good, the universe throws mold at me. (new to the PNW humidity). i love this little red pickup, & i always will. so here’s to learning how to be a carpenter, while actively being a carpenter. cheers friends, hold on to the things you love. & when they break, fix them.
