Where's Dick's General Store? What even is the
@picturedromemacc ?
For those that haven't visited us yet, and because we LOVE our home, we thought we'd share a little about the Picturedrome. Annoyingly we can only share 10 photos here and there's a lot to show you!
At the top of Chestergate, a street that runs straight from the Town Hall, filled with historic and even Grade Listed buildings, the Picturedrome stands at the top as an art deco building originally a cinema (opened in 1911!). These days, from the team behind Mackie Mayor and Altrincham market and food hall, Picturedrome houses 9 independent bars and kitchens. There's a large indoor space, putting you in the center of the kitchens, watching the talented chefs and sitting around tables like family. A courtyard garden brings more seating, beautiful planting and another delicious kitchen. The building is fully accessible, which usually feels such a rarity, but a ramp and family changing room and disabled loo, plus a kids play area, makes disabled people and families feel part of the action and not a last minute thought. Dogs are always welcomed too and definitely always made a fuss of. The staff work hard at making customers feel welcomed, while the team in the kitchens and bars are on hand to share their knowledge and passion in what they bring to the Picturedrome within their own unique businesses. For the past few months now we've been in the foyer. A beautiful little space with original features and thoughtful arrangement. We've settled in and tried to bring a 'entrance THROUGH the gift shop' style feel, keeping you browsing while you think about what food you're having, helping you pick a card before you meet your mate for their birthday inside, while you wait for your partner to bring their takeaway bottles of exceptional wine and beer. Prior to Dick's General Store, we'd been avid customers at the Picturedrome. Then when Eddie came along, having a safe space as a young family, plus with myself (Leigh) having mobility issues and disabilities we always felt at home. To now share our business here feels a dream. We feel part of a larger family and hope to treat you, our customers, in the same way.
