The future of Black art starts here!
This summer, Diasporal Rhythms is hosting Keepers of the Flame—a free, immersive arts residency for Bronzeville’s youth.
We’re removing every barrier, covering all materials, meals, and transportation so our kids can create alongside master artists.
To make this happen, we need your help. We’ve raised $1,025 toward our $2,400 goal to fully fund the program, and we’ve extended our deadline to May 7th.
Step into the circle of patrons making this possible. Help us reach our goal for Bronzeville’s youth today.

Black motherhood is a masterpiece of resilience, beauty, and boundless love.
This Mother’s Day, we celebrate this sacred bond through the eyes of the artists who capture it best. Spanning from the monumental work of Elizabeth Catlett to the striking contemporary visions of Njideka Akunyili Crosby and Amy Sherald, the African Diaspora continues to elevate and immortalize the matriarch.
Explore this curated visual journey into the essence of maternal devotion.
Happy Mother’s Day from Diasporal Rhythms! 🖤✨

New York moves fast, but we brought our own rhythm.
Last month, Diasporal Rhythms took over NYC. We spent four days inside the studios and rooms of the African diaspora’s premier artists.
We moved from the Studio Museum in Harlem to MoCADA in Brooklyn. Sat with Sadaf Padder’s work at Sargent’s Daughters. Explored the Hemingway African Gallery and Richard Beavers Gallery with Kaima Marie Akarue and Tyreek Morrison.
The highlight? An exclusive invite into the home of Chicago film director Coodie Simmons to explore his private collection.
This is how we experience art.

This Saturday, Diasporal Rhythms is taking you straight to the source: an exclusive look inside the studio of Chicago’s own @jamiahcalvin .
Raised in Austin, Jamiah’s work is a sharp collision of West Side realities, military experience, and a deep love for comics and anime. He’s left his mark on walls from Chicago to Detroit to Oaxaca, Mexico. Now, with a BFA from NIU and currently expanding his practice at SAIC, he’s building a legacy that demands attention.
Connect with the artist, see his creative process up close, and experience @jamiahcalvin ‘s work in an intimate setting.

We love seeing Black collectors making headlines. The Chicago Sun-Times recently featured @blackcollectorsguild and their impact at @expochicago
When we gather to buy, share, and advocate for Black art, we shift the entire culture. It is about taking ownership of our stories and ensuring our artists get the institutional recognition they deserve.
At Diasporal Rhythms, this shared vision drives everything we do. If you are ready to collect with intention and connect with a community that gets it, there is a place for you here.
