Time to dust off my IG with new work!
I had another amazing opportunity last year to work on the launch film for the Huawei flagship Mate 70 phone at @futuredeluxe
It was a nice change of pace to be back working on a product film. The backplate was such a challenging task to light, especially with its intricate waving detail.

Prada Paradoxe Virtual Flower
Early last year, I had a great opportunity to bring this flower to life alongside other talents at @futuredeluxe LDN.
This was a fun yet challenging task. Unlike other CGI flowers I’ve created—which were usually built procedurally from scratch and based on real flowers—this one was an existing sculpture later used in 3D printing and, as far as I know, a hybrid from several different flowers.
It was refreshing to work “backward” and build a rig for this one, with multiple sepal layers and complex, scarf-like petals.

R&D for DKNY project with @_reference 🎈

This project consisted of a series of FOOH videos featuring the new DKNY heart logo in a balloon shape.
We explored various ways the balloon could look and how we could construct the logo as a balloon. I primarily worked on the spots for NYC, Berlin, and Milan. I had a great time building different setups to inflate, deflate, and transform the shapes. I learned so much about topology and vellum during this project. It was an absolute pleasure to work with the incredible and talented people at @futuredeluxe Sydney for Techcombank Private.
The main theme is to tell the story using Tứ quý (Trees/Flowers of the Four Seasons): Tùng (pine), Cúc (chrysanthemum), Trúc (bamboo), Mai (plum, apricot).

This project holds an extra special place in my heart, as it deeply reflects my culture and heritage. It's incredibly fulfilling to have the chance to work on and interpret this traditional idea in a modern context.

Another one from the series of four films for Tiffany that I worked on with the amazing team at @_reference last year. For this, I handled the rose shots and the blackcurrant asset. The rose is such a classic flower and tricky to get right with its soft, fringy petals and the way it twirls when opening. I actually spent more time on this one than on all the other assets combined.
The blackcurrant was built in Houdini, using an L system for the stem and an RBD sim to separate the overlapping fruits.

This is another entry for my CGI flower series, now with a completely revamped setup. This evolution is the result of a year of continuous learning and adapting. Throughout the year, I had the opportunity to work with numerous different flowers and plants, each presenting unique traits and challenges. The initial system I developed earlier this year quickly proved insufficient for many types. The new setup aims to realistically increase the number of petals (without blowing up Houdini), while also reducing the "time-reversal" feel when the flower blooms. This makes the petals appear to "unfold" rather than "bloom". 2023 is truly a year of flower simulations.
