Legacy doesn’t fade. It evolves.
Today would have been my dad’s birthday.
William Sullivan was the steward of our centennial family farm outside of New Berlin — the patriarch, the fourth generation, and the quiet force who believed that land isn’t owned, it’s cared for. His values shaped my life and gave me the courage to start Danenberger Family Vineyards on the same ground our family has farmed since 1887.
This photo was taken in 1956 while he was serving in the U.S. Army in Zurich. Years later, while preparing for his funeral, I tried to scan it — and instead of a clean image, it fractured into vibrant, colorful pixels. I almost discarded it.
But I didn’t.
That accidental distortion became the foundation of our logo. That pixelated image now lives somewhere on every DFV label — meaning his service, his face, and his legacy quite literally live on in everything we create.
From a centennial farm sign on the wall to every bottle poured, his influence is still here.
Today, I raise a glass to the man who taught me stewardship, resilience, and respect for the land.

Comfort zones are overrated!
Last Saturday night I got on stage with All American Throwbacks and sang “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” in front of a sold-out crowd @dfvwines
I’ll be honest— getting ready for the crowds is easy.
Being the one on stage? Whole different story.
It’s equal parts terrifying and exhilarating… and maybe that’s the point.
I don’t get a lot of adrenaline rushes these days with my health and schedule—
but I found one right here.
And something tells me I might do it again.
Thanks to the band @allamericanthrowbacks for letting me jam on stage! *Their high energy is intoxicating and they are definitely in my top 3!

Today I had the honor of representing the wine industry at the Illinois State Capitol for Agriculture Day. 🍇🌽🚜
As a winemaker and board member for Illinois wine, I spent the day listening, learning, and advocating—alongside leaders, legislators, and the next generation of agriculture.
From powerful speeches… to meaningful conversations about the future of Illinois wine… it was a reminder that what we do goes far beyond the tasting room.
Wine is agriculture. 🍇
And agriculture is the backbone of Illinois.
Proud to be part of the voice shaping its future—and proud to represent DFV in that conversation.
