‘Even the Korean word for “queer” is borrowed from English,’ says Dew Kim (@dew_needs_you ). ‘I’m using Western labels to define myself.’ Kim’s work explores dogma, ideology and the cult of fame across sculpture, video and performance. In this Meet Me in Seoul video, the Korean artist, showing at the fair with @galeriesultana , talks about the way that binary Christian thought has fed into contemporary notions of queerness in his society, and how an earlier, shamanistic culture embraced ‘more ambiguity, more open thinking’.      Hit the link in bio to watch the full video. 🤍 Balance in Motion 5.14 - 7. 4, 2026 @p21.kr P21은 오는 5월 14일부터 7월 4일까지 작가 17인이 참여하는 Balance in Motion을 개최합니다. 이번 전시는 서양 미술사에서 발전해 온 모빌이라는 조각 형식을 동시대 국내 작가들의 조형 언어로 새롭게 해석하며, 균형과 움직임에 대한 현대적 감각을 제안하기 위해 아트 어드바이저 채민진(@minjin.chae )과의 협업으로 기획되었습니다. 국내외에서 활발하게 활동하는 작가들의 각기 다른 조형적 접근과 감각적인 작업을 함께 경험하시기 바랍니다. 이미지 크레딧 P21 제공, 사진 이의록 P21 presents Balance in Motion, a group exhibition featuring 17 artists, on view from May 14 to July 4. The exhibition reinterprets the sculptural form of the mobile —developed within Western art history-through the contemporary sculptural language of Korean artists, offering a renewed perspective on balance and movement. It is organized in collaboration with art advisor Minjin Chae. [Dew Kim at Art Sonje Center, Seoul] PODIUM is proud to share that Dew Kim (@dew_needs_you ) is part of the exhibition ‘Spectrosynthesis Seoul’ at Art Sonje Center (@artsonje_center ), in collaboration with Sunpride Foundation (@sunpridefoundation ). The exhibition is currently on view until 28 June 2026. Bringing together more than 70 LGBTQ+ artists, ‘Spectrosynthesis Seoul’ is a monumental presentation adopting the city of Seoul as a focal point to explore trans-existential conditions, queer temporality, and spatiality as it examines the layered topography of queer art landscape.  Themed ‘DEEPSPACE PAROUSIA’, Dew Kim constructs a sensory field where restraint and release, control and submission intersect within the body.
