I went to an early screening of Ready or Not: Here I Come last night and I was pleasantly surprised! Honestly, I didn’t think Ready or Not needed a sequel. I’m not really sure what was going to happen to Grace after the cops showed up, and I didn’t really need to know, but we get to find out now because Ready or Not: Here I Come picks up with the final scene and goes from there. Before the movie started, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Kathryn Newton, and Elijah Wood showed up to introduce the film and thank us for coming, so that was cool!
I was thoroughly onboard with the story that was written that gets her back in the ‘game’ so to speak. She’s playing hide and seek again, except this time it’s with her sister. The sequel felt more brutal than the first one and there’s lots of laugh lines and great kills. The characters are hilarious, and there’s a quick cameo from everyone’s favorite body horror director. The cast was great, but I needed more guttural screams from Samara Weaving.
Ready or Not: Here I Come isn’t as good as the first one, but for a sequel that didn’t need to exist, it’s pretty damn good.
