Day 7 🇯🇵
Cab rides, store runs for supplies, trying new desserts 🍰, and finally putting down the first coats of Dodger Blue 🎨💙
One thing about these trips it’s always a mix of work, laughs, random snack stops, s/o to @devontsunostudio for the fire color palette 😎
The color is starting to hit different already!!

Started the day off with some amazing food 🍜 and good laughs 😂 and somehow ended the night with a little rain 🌧️ and even more laughs.
It’s really dope seeing how clean and respectful the culture is out here… definitely an eye opener for sure 👀🇯🇵
I’m tired and sleepy lol 😴
Catch y’all on Day 6 ✌🏾✨

“Personal Jesus”
60”x32”
Acrylic on canvas
Whew where do I even start with this piece.
A dualities project for my class where I had to combine two interest that had nothing in common. BDSM and Jesus Christ it is! The canvas was made from scratch with the help of my partner who I depicted as Jesus.
Something that started as just a class assignment became something way more to me. It’s my embodiment of my love to my partner Jack and my way of sharing it to the world. Probably my most controversial but also most loved piece yet!
I want to personally thank my painting 2 professor @devontsunostudio for having me do this project and giving me the space and time to do it for class. It was balls to the wall fun and I always look back on that semester so fondly.
I also want to thank @xzbtlife for having my piece up for the Obsession showcase and letting me be one of three winners for the show it was its first time in the public and I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity!
I also want to thank my friends and family for supporting my artwork when I couldn’t go because I had to work. My family turned this piece around in the house because they believed it was sacrilegious and demonic but still showed up to give it love and I love you guys for putting up with my punk bullshit.
Most importantly I love you Jack. Forever my muse and partner in every lifetime.

Over the last decade, Carla has been described as many things: colorful, connective, inviting, and even “a magazine I can show my mom.” As we close out 2025 and look into 2026 (& beyond), we can’t wait to evolve in even more ways alongside our L.A. community—all the while staying true to our mission as an accessible arts platform and resource. 💚✨
“The art world can feel so exclusive, and there’s all these barriers you have to cross to enter it,” Editor in Chief and Executive Director Lindsay Preston Zappas (@prestochango ) shared. “And I really wanted to create a space that diminished all those barriers and could be open to anyone and everyone.”
Give today and support Carla as we continue to collaborate with emerging artists and writers throughout the next decade, fostering art writing and community building in L.A. together! Link in bio. 🫶💫
