I imagined this song in Quentin Tarantino‘s Django Unchained when I wrote it, so we went to the desert to bring that vision to life. In this age of AI, I wanted to make something raw, organic, with the cracks that expose the real shit. There’s pain in these songs, and it was hard to write some of them, but I’m glad I did, and I’m grateful for the love that made these songs happen. A moment for the strings 🎻🎶 I knew from the moment we started tracking this album that “Moonflower” needed strings. I wanted to draw from Philly Soul, Aretha, Isaac Hayes, Marvin, all the nostalgia I love… So I called the homie @jordanlehning and he composed the most beautiful arrangement.
