Busy next couple of months for shows, kicking it off in Kansas this weekend for @planetcomiconofficial
It'll be my first time at this show and am really looking forward to it!
A special and bittersweet day: Saying goodbye to some paintings that I’ve been holding onto that have meant so much to me that basically kicked off my career so many years ago.
This job came in shortly after I completed the Breath of Fire painting for Squaresoft USA (more about that here: vmadan.com/games#/bof/)
The ask for this cover was similar to the Breath of Fire cover, something appealing to a North American audience but with this one, less ‘comic book’ looking and possibly more ‘mature’. I submitted a painting as a proof of concept of what I had in mind for it- something that took a step back from the pen and ink linework I usually worked in and a more painterly/mixed media approach using gouache, colored pencils and airbrush.
Turns out the saliva and ear rings were deemed ‘too aggressive’ but everything else was working :D
There is comfort knowing that the paintings are going to great home where I know they’ll be well taken care of and loved going forward :)
I did get a chance to have high res scans made of them so I’ll have prints available next month for the @wagamingexpo in Puyallup which I’ll share as that show gets closer.

Looks like the cover variant I did for TMNT Adventures#34 is available for preorder!
As excited as I was to draw the Heroes, I felt compelled to slip in a comp with Rocksteady and Bebop, complete with a super awesome, gnarly and totally rad 80's laser gun.
Any artist will tell you that when they submit sketch options, there's always the one they secretly hope gets chosen- and that was the one I was secretly rooting for. To my complete surprise, they chose it!
A big special thanks to @tommystellacomics for making it all happen: It was so much fun drawing these guys and hope to do it again soon :)
Some memories from Baltimore Comic Con 2025!
Another really great show that celebrates all the pop culture stuff but is focused around comic creators and their art. I came away really inspired after spending a few days wandering the aisles looking at all kinds of great work.
My piece for the show's 2025 yearbook featuring Bone, some of the sketches and friendly folks (both old and new- including a suspicious couple that had me checking to make sure I still had my wallet after meeting them) and a bonus dinner with my brother who came up for the first evening.
Will be looking forward to doing it again next year!

And it sure went fast, but I will be the first to tell you that I am the luckiest guy in the world to have such an amazing partner who has most definitely stuck with me through the better and the worse of it thus far.
She continues to make me feel loved, amaze and inspire me, and make me laugh on a daily basis.
