For an entire year, I dreamed of combining two powerful transformative practices, writing and council. As a level III Council Facilitator, I’m trained to hold space for what’s unsaid; the thoughts, feelings, words and ideas that are just beneath the surface, and even buried deep.
In the fall, we held the first 10 week session of Writers Soul Circle and it was no less than enchanting. In addition to myself, one other writer attended every single session, and around us a cohort of creators flowed in and out each week to write music and tv scripts and letters and poetry. The consistency is in the commitment, and in the vibe. We come listening for each others’ greatness, for ease, for breakthroughs and for fun.

Where my drawing is at these days 🦊 When your 5 year old is learning to write, and you have no time in the day—any day—to open the paint box, and your 8 month old baby is teething and it’s raining nonstop and even though you’re in Ireland which sounds romantic, and is, with the right rose tinted glasses on…Sometimes the best option is to draw a pirate fox and call it good for the month. No paintings since October? No problem. Ballpoint pen and tiny cut-up pieces of card to the rescue.
And Rowan’s first comic (by Scott McCloud’s definition: words with pictures)—that’s pretty awesome too. He promptly cut them apart, saying, “You can have words next to your pictures mommy. I don’t want my words and pictures together.” Kid knows what he likes.
