The thing I remember most aside from his kindness, humor and generosity as an artist, was hearing Rob telling the story of how falling in love with Michele changed the ending of When Harry Met Sally. His hands waving in the air, explaining that these characters were never meant to end up together, it wasn’t something he believed to be realistic, finding love like that. Then he would give his infectious smile and say, “but then I met Michele.”
I think anyone who spent any moment with them felt this way. “But then I met Rob and Michele.”
