Off the Cuff by Tobias Izsó @derizso The tension of daily life can at times be unbearable. Just so having arrived in the cosy security of one’s own four walls, having lowered the keychain onto the dresser, thrown both jacket and scarf onto the old coat rack, and finally having dropped one’s bottom, after a long day, onto one’s favourite chair, restlessness sets in. Silently, internally, gently at first, then becoming ever louder. Does it have to do with the growing pile of laundry on the designated armchair in the corner, or with the dripping faucet whose sealing ring gently but noticeably attempts to claim its retirement, or with the dust settling on the furniture, sparkling particularly mesmerizingly in the last rays of the setting sun? Excerpt from “Off the Cuff”. . Tobias Izsó @derizso Born in 1997 in Vienna, he lives and works in Vienna. Izsó studied Photography and Fine Art at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and Sculpture through Erasmus programs at the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design in Prague and the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Working primarily in sculpture and installation, Izsó employs assemblage as a central method. IZSÓ has presented solo and group exhibitions at institutions including Kunstverein Dresden, Lentos Museum Linz,Vienna Contemporary, NADA Warsaw, and many others. He is the recipient of multiple grants and scholarships, including the BMKÖS Visual Arts Grant, and is represented by Galerie Christine König, Vienna. . #ArttacaSpotlight is our weekly feature where we share works of three artists per week on our social media channels. #ArttacaSpotlight #Arttaca #OffTheCuff #TobiasIzsó

“The Accountant” by Tobias Izsó Opening: 17 October 2025, 19:00 Exhibition: 18 October 2025 – 10 January 2026 Kunstverein Dresden @kunstverein_dresden Hours: Thu/Fri 16:00–20:00, Sat 12:00–16:00 / by appointment Artist talk with Tobias Izsó and curator Eva Slabá on 18 October at 11:00 In his new installation at Kunstverein Dresden, Tobias Izsó constructs a sculptural world suspended between daily and office, domestic ritual and bureaucratic absurdity. Assemblages of bent wood, textiles, and found materials drift between function and fiction: wooden shirts, emptied briefcases, exaggerated zippers. They mock their own logic and reveal the uneasy overlap of private and public life, order and refusal. We are pleased to announce Austrian sculptor Tobias Izsó as the next artist-in-residence for the NAYA x Arthouse Advisory Artist Residency & Collector Retreat Program in Chengmai, Hainan. Born in Vienna in 1997, Izso is part of a compelling new generation of Austrian artists. His sculptural practice transforms materials drawn from domestic life-wood, textiles, rattan, leather-into psychologically charged forms that explore tension, intimacy, and the boundary between public roles and private vulnerability. Izsó has exhibited internationally, including at Kunstverein Dresden, Galerie Christine Konig (König2), Vienna Contemporary Zone 1, and Fotogalerie Wien, with upcoming milestones including Art Cologne 2025 and a solo exhibition at the Max Pechstein Museum (2026). This residency marks his first creative project in China. During his time in Chengmai, Izsó will develop a new body of work responding to Hainan’s ecological materiality, domestic rituals, and evolving cultural landscape-aligning with NAYA’s mission to foster international artistic exchange beyond traditional metropolitan centers. We look forward to welcoming Tobias to Hainan and to the conversations his work will generate. #naya #nayaresidency #artresidency #arthouseadvisory #arthouseadvisoryshanghai
