Mêlant autobiographie, fiction et danse, le film retrace son retour dans l’appartement de ce dernier, quelques mois après sa mort. It feels surreal to introduce a very special project - Les mêmes yeux que toi - a short dance film that we’ve been working on for the last two years. Born from the choreographic work of Anne Plamondon, the film explores the complicated relationship between unresolved grief, and the desire to liberate oneself from the past. To work with Anne on such a personal and cathartic piece was both humbling and inspiring. Christophe Collette was part of the core of this project, not only introducing Anne and I, but also bringing an incredible sensitivity and generosity through his work on the images. As a director, I’m always looking for new ways to tell stories and treat the medium; when I first heard Milk & Bone’s ‘The Abyss’ (which is part of the soundtrack for the video game Lost Records: Bloom and Rage), I jumped at the chance to play with the format and craft something that would honour the cinematic and foreboding tone of the soundtrack. I wrote a concept that plays with the themes of the game and leans into its aesthetic, while trying to create a world unto itself - a narrative scene that feels part of a larger whole, yet stands alone as a music video. It was a huge challenge to bring this concept to life and I am so thankful to @milknbone and @dontnod_ent for their trust, to @victoria___diamond andd @chanelmings for bringing their talent to the screen, and to @summerhouse.productions for making my crazy ideas a reality.
