Speaking of bio: Derek DiMartini (he/him) is a queer, multiracial choreographer, performer, and founding member of Hypothetical Circus. Blending butoh, modern dance, experimental theater, and circus arts, his work uses movement to reimagine how marginalized bodies can take up space with power and complexity. Known for his raw physicality and emotional precision, Derek creates performances that embrace transformation, ambiguity, and the multiplicity of being. His work has been shown in both New York and the Bay Area, and he’s performed with LEIMAY ensemble, Epiphany Dance Theater, Human Shakes, and Erik Wagner, among others. In addition, Derek is a LUDUS movement teacher and Structural Integrator for movement professionals and enthusiasts.

Saturday, Dec 7th | 10a-12pm ~Finding Your Fluid Body with Derek DiMartini. 💫 Reconnect with the innate fluidity of your body and discover how your fascial web can be a source of support and strength. Finding Your Fluid Body is a somatic workshop that blends gentle partnering, imagery-based exercises, and integral anatomy to help you embody ease, connection, and resilience.
Drawing on movement practices from Structural Integration (Hellerwork, Mary Bond) and Eastern dance traditions (Noguchi Taiso, Leimay Ludus), this class creates a playful, inquisitive environment open to people of all abilities. 🔥Derek DiMartini (he/him) is a queer + multiracial choreographer, movement artist, and bodyworker. In all of his practices, his work emphasizes the transformative and enigmatic nature of the human body, and seeks to leave people with a broader appreciation of the depth and intelligence inherent in the physical form. His movement practice spans a broad range of disciplines, including butoh, circus, modern dance, experimental theater, Feldenkrais, and integral anatomy. As a certified Structural Integration practitioner, Derek employs a holistic approach with his clients, blending fascial release, biomechanics, movement awareness exercises, and visceral manipulation to address patterns of chronic pain, strain, and resistance in the body. For more info on his bodywork offerings find him on instagram @IntegrityInMotion or integrityinmotionsi.com Photo by Juan Palhiac Image Description: Graphic image with above date, time and place information. Photo is of Derek mid-tuck-jump. His legs are tucked to his chest and his arms hang down. He is wearing a white leotard, has dark hair and is in an outdoor pavilion.
