Zwei Tennisspielerinnen rasten aus. Zerschmettern Schläger. Reißen Netze ein. Verlieren endlich die Kontrolle. Das Spielfeld liegt in Trümmern. Dünner Sand weht über das Feld. Auftritt zweier Cowboys. Als Country Fans, Tennisgöttinnen und zugleich höchst erregbare Big Bosses wagen Denise Palmieri und Maria Sendlhofer einen Balanceakt auf der Linie zwischen Reenactment und Empowerment, zwischen Solidarität, Sportmanship und entfesselter Wut. RAGE fahndet nach den verschiedenen Lesarten von Wut und untersucht Gründe ihrer Ungleichverteilung. Untersuchungsfeld ist der Tenniscourt als Schauplatz, in dem Einschreibungen von race und Gender verhandelt werden. Despite many countries taking a firm stance against Eurovision by not participating so long as Israel is, the contest still went forward with Israel. Eurovision is taking place in Vienna and the semi-finals and finals are this week! To boycott and show solidarity against the event @solidarity.united is organising the largest public assembly in Karlsplatz. Show up & reject the normalisation of a genocidal state’s participation in cultural events such as this! Spread the word with all your European friends and remember: Boycott Eurovision!

Musik mit Haltung bedeutet, sich nicht an der Normalisierung von Gewalt zu beteiligen, sondern ein klares Zeichen der Solidarität zu setzen.

RAGE experimentiert mit TENNIS als Mechanismus der Erregbarkeit: ein Spiel, in dem es darum geht, die Gegenspielerin aus der Form laufen zu lassen. Der Court wird zum symbolisch aufgeladenen Ort von Macht und Kontrolle: Wer darf sich wie verhalten? Wem wird geglaubt? Die Regeln gelten scheinbar für alle gleich und werden doch je nach Körper ganz unterschiedlich bewertet. Zwischen den Wutausbrüchen von John McEnroe und dem Aufbegehren von Serena Williams zeigen sich die Brüche: wie lange gewütet werden darf und wann alte Stereotype greifen. In RAGE verschränkt sich WESTERN als Genre, in dem Rival*innenschaft und Polarisierung überdeutlich hervortreten und gefährlich werden, mit Tennis: eine Verquickung, die Achsen weißer Privilegiertheit und Kontrolle sichtbar macht, sie durch Überkonkretisierung ad absurdum führt und zugleich lustvoll überschreibt und neu aneignet. _______________________________ HANNA STEINMAIR RAGE: A TENNIS WESTERN 🗓 Wed 22 / Thu 23 April 2026 📍WUK Saal | 7:30 PM
