Copenhagen Light Festival returned in 2026 and lit up the capital. The festival embraced 45 light installations, light runs, and experiences in and along the canals in the oldest part of the city✨
The public was encouraged to bring their own lights and become part of the city’s moving light in the winter darkness🌟
The iconic green laser beam was once again switched on, shining from Tivoli, across Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, and onward to the Church of Our Saviour on by the old docks at Christianshavn💫
Have you ever taken part in a light festival?⭐

24 February 2026, marks the fourth year of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine - and every day since, Ukraine has been fighting a brave battle for their own and Europe's security.
In the midst of war – and with support from Denmark - young Ukrainians are reclaiming their rights to be young and to be heard. The Ukrainian-Danish Youth Houses in Kyiv and Mykolaiv offer spaces for free speech, political dialogue, culture and community.
The Youth Houses help youngsters meet and connect 🇺🇦 because young people need both safety and shared purpose. They need hope and ways to influence their future.
Did you know that the Danish support to Ukraine amounts to a total of approximately EUR 10.8 billion? This makes Denmark the largest provider of military support to Ukraine relative to population and the 4th largest contributor in absolute numbers.

Be My Eyes, is an app that connects people with blindness and low vision with sighted volunteers through live video calls📱👁️
Founded in 2015 by Danish entrepreneur Hans Jørgen Wiberg, the app was created with a vision of providing real-time assistance to people with blindness and low vision 🤝
Today the app has a network of over 7 million sighted volunteers, providing support to around 600.000 blind and low vision users around the world🌍
Tasks that were once challenging, such as grocery shopping, identifying colors, or reading instructions, become easier with the support of the app💚
Would you consider volunteering for a similar cause?

January 2026 has become the coldest January in Denmark in 16 years ❄️
From frozen canals, ice-skating on the lakes to snow-dusted streets, Copenhagen reflects a winter that continues to hold its grip🧊
The cold weather remains across Denmark, with February also being marked by freezing temperatures 🇩🇰
Winter conditions can be challenging, but they can also be an invitation to stay active and enjoy nature in a different way.

For decades, the motorway experience has been about convenience at the cost of quality – fast food, neon light and plastic⚡️

“Fastelavnsboller” - a traditional Danish pastry you’ll find in every bakery at this time of year 📣
On February 11, Danes celebrate Fastelavn - think Halloween, but Scandinavian: children dress up in costumes and take turns trying to crack open a wooden barrel, a bit like a Danish piñata 🪅
The Fastelavnsbolle is enjoyed as a traditional part of the Fastelavn festivities and the sweet treat has gained so much popularity, that Danes even queue up in front of bakeries to secure one.
Have you ever tried "Fastelavnsboller"? 🍥

Every two years, thousands of Danish studens take part in “Skolevalg” - the Danish School Election🇩🇰🗳️
Over a three-week period, students in 8th, 9th and 10th grade learn about democracy, debate political issues and, finally, cast their votes in a nationwide mock election📚 The aim is to give young people a practical introduction to how Danish democracy works⚖️
It gives young people a closer look at political debate – and the opportunity to experience democratic processes before becoming eligible voters.
Skolevalg is just one example of how Denmark works actively to promote democratic engagement from an early age – and to ensure that every voice counts👥

Last weekend, on 24 January, it was International Day of Education, highlighting education's contribution to peace, development, gender equality, and poverty reduction🌍🎓
And there is a lot to celebrate🎉 On average, 93% of the world’s young people aged 15–24 can now read and write, according to figures from UNESCO. This is more than ever before🙌
First of all, more children have started school in recent decades. In addition, many countries have made both primary and secondary education free and compulsory👧🧒
In Denmark, most education is tax-funded and free of charge for students. Education is important to Danes: even people who have obtained a degree sign up for additional courses to improve their professional skills or to pursue a hobby💼🎨
What role has education played in your life or career? ✨
