I am guided by the moon rabbit: that space alchemist in Chinese folklore who accompanied the Moon goddess Chang’e, constantly pounding the elixir of life. My artistic process transforms raw, organic matter found in French Guiana: laterite (my old friend), red onion, yellow onion, eucalyptus bark, and vase: silt banks that travel down the coast here from the Amazon river. The work is manual, soft, and very slow. Time and space are tied into the fabrics.
