This weekend I had the pleasure to photograph the opening of Mary Blair: Mid-Century Magic at the @napavalleymuseum ! This is a traveling stop from the @wdfmuseum . Make your way to Yountville and check the exhibition out!
If you don’t know, Mary Blair was an icon of Disney’s Art Department working on various movies such as Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan. When we were at Disney World two years ago, we made it a point to see her mosaic at the Contemporary.

Iconic or cliché? Tunnel View is probably one of the post photographed scenes in all of Yosemite. With one basic overlook, most of the images are going to be fairly identical that was immortalized by Ansel Adams. Yet, there I was, standing cold in the dark waiting for the sun to rise just to follow in the foot steps of countless photographers before me as well as the many who were with me braving the cold morning. Maybe it is the camaraderie of the experience that is more important than the countless photos themselves?

Which one of these three variations of my interpretation of Tunnel View do you prefer? The warmer idealized image, the cooler cast that was more true to my own experience, or the black and white version thinking back to that f/64 tradition?
