Deep Cuts

Deep Cuts is a cake studio based out of Queens, ran by multidisciplinary artist Asfandyar Born and raised in New York, the name “Deep Cuts” draws inspiration from hip hop albums and New York rap culture, as it is actually a double entendre; referring to both cake slices and album cuts that are often found on the B-sides. The flavor profiles are inspired by nature, and are rooted in floral and earthy tones; evoking a sense of calm and ease The intention of Deep Cuts is to create a third space where folks can get away from the bustle of New York, relax and enjoy cake on a night out, whilst listening to songs they normally wouldn’t hear unless they dug through the depths of an album. Still feeling like this whole day was a dream fr🥹🧚‍♂️ Being able to bring stories and ideas that have been living in my head to life is truly a blessing. I’m so grateful for the chance to share Aurora’s Daydream in Brooklyn this past Saturday! So many inner child dreams came true this weekend, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of so many of my amazing friends and creatives who helped make it all happen. One of those special people is @rebeccamagnan of @sapeca.studio . She generously guided me through the process of bringing the concept for the jewelry to life—the armor I envisioned for the characters in my story. Working with Rebecca was truly magical. We quickly discovered how much we shared, with our parents being the driving force behind our love for creating jewelry. Together, we explored the idea of duality: the balance between opposite forces, like light and dark, softness and strength, brass and silver... And from that, our jewelry collaboration was born. We’ll be sharing more this week about how you can get your hands on one of these limited-edition pieces.
