The 𝗟𝗜𝗠𝗢𝗡 𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗡𝗬 (𝗟𝗗𝗖) has been at the vanguard of dance since its inception in 1946. José Limón has a special place in American culture for a social awareness that transcended distinct groups to address how we all search for commonality. It is with this ethos that they continue to commission works by critically acclaimed and emerging international voices 50 years after Limón’s passing ❤️
𝗗𝗘𝗘𝗣𝗔 𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗚𝗘𝗟 joined Limón Dance Company in 2021. She was born in Kolkata, India and raised in Seattle, Washington. She trained with Cornish Prep Dance, Leela Kathak Dance and Seattle Theater Group. She earned her BFA in dance and minor in arts management from Southern Methodist University. Professionally, Liegel’s worked with Mark Morris Dance Group, the Metropolitan Opera, Dance Lab NY, Broadway Bares, Catherine Cabeen, Barkha Dance Company and in music videos with J Balvin, Delta Rae and Chloe Flower. ⭐️
𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗘 𝗣𝗨𝗟𝗘𝗜𝗢 a widely respected former member of the Limón Dance Company for more than a decade, Puleio was appointed the sixth Artistic Director in the Company’s 80-year history, a position that originated with Doris Humphrey. After a diverse performing career with the Limón Dance Company, touring national and international musical theatre productions, television and film, he received his MFA from University of California, Irvine. His research focuses on contextualizing mid 20th century dance for the contemporary artist and audience.👯

Over the past 2 weeks, I had the honor of staging “A Choreographic Offering” and teaching at my alma mater. I was blown away by the talent, receptivity and heart of the students. They tackled Choreo with openness, enthusiasm and thought. I cannot wait to see the final product. It’s been over a decade since SMU performed a Limón work, (I was in the cast) and the piece was my stepping stone into the Limón company. This staging brought me full circle - I’m can’t thank Carter enough for championing me.
Other huge thank you’s: @parisa.khobdeh is someone I’ve admired from afar since I was a student & working with her was a dream come true. The students are so lucky to have her wisdom and passion. David Anderson, who filmed every rehearsal and brought so much appreciation for the music & Limón to the room. @heatherguthrie20 , for keeping all the ducks in a row & making sure I was alive during the ice storm. Dante, Logan & Savannah, thank you for answering all my questions & emails & fears.
And to José, whose work is reminder of joy & hope in these dark times. I am humbled by the beauty of his dances.

These shows brought the best people together & I am so amazed by the love and support of my family & friends. It truly takes a village & I couldn’t do it without each & every one of you. Now for a nap bc jet lag is kicking my butt! 😴
Then & Now. 2015, I performed with @smumeadowsdance in the 70th Anniversary Festival / 2025, my 4th Joyce season with @limondance as we celebrate 80 years. GRATEFUL doesn’t begin to cover it. Thankful for this family & all those who’ve mentored me on this journey. Come see us dance next week @thejoycetheater October 14-19th.
