Please check out the info below: Stories Behind the Cue Join us in Vancouver on 12 March SCGC members are invited to a very special live event featuring Stories Behind the Cue, a curated panel of composers sharing insights into their creative process. From conversations with directors and producers to orchestration choices, and creative problem-solving, panelists will offer an inside look at how a score evolves from concept to final cue. Caleb Chan will moderate an expert panel featuring Terry Frewer, Sorah Eun, Jordan Andrew, Red Janes, Marc Junker and David Parfit. Tickets for the SCGC and other panels are free but numbers are limited so please book promptly!

Happy bandcamp Friday! It warms my heart to finally share this soundtrack with the help of Cloudrise Pictures Ltd. We decided to release this music (which was actually originally recorded in 2018) as a digital release to cap off the year—and also offer it as a CD package (which contains some cool liner notes and behind-the-scenes photos). If you are curious about the film, it is the first iteration of a series of animated movies made by Denver Jackson at Cloudrise Pictures. The most recent film (The Worlds Divide) is what we won the most recent awards (Leo Award and CASMA Award) for the soundtrack and traveled to Annecy last year for. That movie is set in the same “universe” as this one! So this is kind of where it all started.  The soundtrack was quite an undertaking at the time and though I’ve progressed in skill and ability to work with players/scope of projects over the past 7 years... I really like how this one sounds. We were working with a choir and a chamber-sized ensemble in pieces and the soundtrack came out very interesting to me... big (in a small way). Also at the time, this was one of the biggest projects to-date that I had the pleasure of working on with David, so it was a really rewarding experience. Won a CASMA for Best Original Score (Narrative Feature Film) for The Worlds Divide. Huge thanks to SCGC for the honour. Thank you Orchestra Tools for the amazing prize! HUGE thanks to the WD kickstarter backers. And, obviously, the most heartfelt thanks to Denver Jackson himself for making the movie. He keeps pushing his own limits and also keeps helping get me out of my comfort zone, making me a better composer every time. The journey has been a real one ❤️. And working with David too for nearly 10 years on movies/shows has molded my path as a composer—he’s been an amazing collaborator, mentor, and a dear friend.
