My paintings go through quite a process to find their resting place. For me, it’s always about the experience of discovery and possibility in both the making and viewing of a painting. Here’s a few glimpses of the making of “Silent Light”. Currently I cannot seem to arrive at a resolution without going through this long journey. I often try though...Time will tell! 👩‍🎨 Abstract landscape, behind the scenes, creative inspiration, art process, San Francisco Bay Area artist, interior designers, art collectors, contemporary painting, art buyers, art curators, large painting, @icb_art

I’ve just returned from a last minute trip to Australia with my daughter to visit family and enjoy some warmer weather, and I’ll be over jet lag and ready to open my doors this Saturday, January 24th for our Artists at Work day! Twice a year we throw open the doors at ICB and let you see what’s really going on in the studio. You’ll catch artists mid-brushstroke, hear the stories behind the work, and maybe fall in love with something you didn’t know existed an hour before. 👩‍🎨 Sausalito art, open studios, Bay Area art event, artists at work, artist studios, studio visit, behind the scenes art, creative inspiration, art process, art collecting, original art, Marin artist, contemporary painting, abstract landscape, January things to do, buy art direct from artist, ICBart, art lovers, @icb_art

An earlier version of this painting (second image) inspired the starting point of my large painting “Blue Moon” and then when I finished the larger painting I came back and this piece totally changed. I find that working back and forth on both small and large pieces really helps inform the work. The Way of Water Acrylic, Pigment, Glass Beads on Canvas 16 x 12 inches 🎨 abstract landscape, inspired by nature, contemporary painting, mark making, blue painting, textured surface, creative inspiration, art process, art collector, buy original art

There is a lot of texture and detailed line work in my recent paintings and I have had a number of people who have seen the work in person mention to me that it reminds them of textiles. I love the idea of having some of my large paintings hang with textile art in an exhibition...Any curators out there? Or maybe one day I’ll find the perfect collaborative opportunity and make some type of textile work. The only project I’ve done which involves textiles was the The Polar Pom Pom Project where I took over 2000 yarn pom-poms made by children and myself to the High Arctic...but that’s another story! 😆 In the meantime, if you want to see this painting in person stop by the @icb_art Open House on Friday, December 5, from 5 - 8 PM. I’m in studio 315 on the 3rd Floor. I’ll have a few small photographic prints available from The Polar Pom Pom Project too. 1.
