The architecture is conceived as an extension of the public space of the Madrid’s Prosperidad neighbourhood and crafts network. A new interior pedestrian alley where different experiences can take place over time.
Linked to the handcrafted jewelry
@deassin , the project operates at a trans-scalar level, from the jewel to the object, from the object to the furniture, from the furniture to space, and from space to the city. This logic is materialised through two elements historically associated with jewellery-making: the table and the drawer, configuring an open space articulated by a dual system of polyvalent storage and mutable tables that integrate processes of design, production, exhibition and sale, and allow the space to be reconfigured for courses, events or temporary uses. The intervention reactivates the site’s productive memory and conceives the interior as an urban infrastructure adaptable to the evolving processes of contemporary productive habitats.
From this logic, the project is grounded in a new perspective on sustainability, a “spatial sustainability”, understood beyond energy, residual or material concerns, as the capacity of a space to remain adaptative over time through use, transformation and interpretation. Framed within the research NON–BINARY SPACE, this approach recognises that adaptability does not reside solely in the polyvalence of the most permanent layers of architecture—structure and infrastructures—but in their capacity to accommodate more active and flexible layers, formed by an ecology of objects, furniture, technologies, bodies and processes.
