Last weekend, my partner and I drove cross country from Jacksonville, FL to San Diego, CA to gift my nephew my car. I bought this car brand new in 2016 and have driven it many miles since then! The night before we left, my partner had the car up on a jack, trying his hand at fixing the emissions system issue which was causing a check engine light. He’s never fixed a car a day in his life, but he did it! We drove the car nearly 3,000 miles and the light never returned! It was a 39 hour drive, and we made it there within 2 days. We left around 2pm Friday afternoon. We stopped along the way in New Orleans for dinner (8 hours in) then drove about 3 more hours and stopped for a quick 3 hr nap, but got right back on the road. We stopped in Lockhart, Texas around noon the next day and got some of the best brunch available, then kept it moving. Texas is a huge state 😮‍💨 Grabbed dinner at Little Shack in El Paso and stopped to sleep for 3-4 hours after a short drive. Day 2 of driving We drove straight through New Mexico, went to Picacho Peak state park in Arizona and fake walked a trail 😆. It was a great time! Finally, we made it to the California state line. When we reached San Diego, it was about noon Sunday. My nephew thought we were shipping the car to him! When we pulled up, the look on his face was priceless! Driving cross country with my partner was such a fun experience - we got to talk, laugh, take in the views, and bond in a new way. It was a massive success. 🖤
