‘Namumula’
Today, @kaputsystemsinc released their first compilation dubbed ‘The Glimmer That Grinds Teeth To Powder’. It features local and international artists/producers who have touched and/or helped mold Kaput’s universe in a myriad of ways through their respective practice.
For my entry, I pulled inspiration from my own personal experience playing for Kaput 8; where from the raised booth I witnessed the striking image of an ocean of dancing bodies engulfed in red, hot passion. Limbs flailing, skin shining, faces blushing. It’s a moment I remember dearly.
The entire compilation is available for purchase and download through Kaput’s bandcamp profile.
Thank you @derektumala for inviting me to be part of such an inspiring line-up of artists, and for @likeanimalsmusic for taking my track through the finish line through his mastering work.
Written, produced & mixed by me

‘Tool 4’
In case you missed it, @sounds.nais released the sixth iteration of their VA last December featuring a whopping 30 original tracks from local artists and producers.
My contribution “Tool 4” was designed for the dancefloor, focusing on atmosphere and forward momentum.
Written, produced, mixed, & mastered by yours truly.
Always grateful for the invite @thirstkid !

𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝘂𝗯 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺: 𝗛𝗠𝗔𝘃.𝟵
On Saturday, April 25, we welcome the distinguished Mexican-Jamaican producer and DJ, Andy Martin ⁽ᴹˣ⁾, to 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘃𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼’s growing list of international guests.
For those attending 𝗛𝗠𝗔 for the first time, you’ll quickly notice traces of Jamaican soundsystem culture and the foundational influence of dub within our club night. The heavy use of reverb, echo, and delay are not only stylistic choices, but are the quiet backbone to our hypnotic and deep approach to techno.
It comes as no surprise, then, that we moved quickly at the opportunity to bring Andy Martin to Manila. His productions reflect a shared DNA with these dub-informed principles, further deepened through his collaboration with the legendary Lee “Scratch” Perry. These parallelisms in references resonated immediately with our residents. With this context in mind and a broader curiosity toward shared histories between the Philippines and Mexico makes us particularly excited to host him for his Philippine debut.
In support of Andy Martin’s debut, we’re joined by respected selector Ayon, alongside the introduction of Shaoxing as a new resident. As always, detalye and Duality will bookend the program with the sounds that define 𝗛𝗠𝗔.
Join us in a month’s time on 𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗱𝗼•❹•❷❺ at »Apotheka«, from 21:00 → 04:00. Pre-sale tickets »PHP 600« are now available via the Helixpay link in our bio.

21:00 → 04:00
On April 25th, 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘃𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 brings its signature deep, percussive, and mind-altering sound design to Apotheka.
For the ninth iteration of the club night, we are proud to welcome Andy Martin—a Mexican-Jamaican electronic artist best known for pushing the boundaries of modern techno by infusing it with a Latin Caribbean sound.
Ayon, a well-respected selector, also joins the lineup alongside 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘃𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 residents Duality, detalye, and Shaoxing.
See you in the fog.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗹𝗮–𝗦𝗲𝗼𝘂𝗹 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼 𝗔𝘅𝗶𝘀
Our deepest thanks to everyone who joined us for 𝗛𝗠𝗔𝘃.𝟴. As an independent, small-scale production, 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘃𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 continues to grow with each iteration.
Despite its humble scale, it was a special opportunity to host Mars Parck ⁽ᵏʳ⁾ 「@marsparck 」and welcome new friends from Seoul into our orbit. Seeing these two worlds converge in our home city felt both natural and long overdue.
We look forward to nurturing what we hope will become an evolving dialogue between these two cities—a »Manila–Seoul continuum« with much more still to come.
As March draws to a close, we’re also pleased to announce 𝗛𝗠𝗔𝘃.𝟵, happening on April 25.
Until then —

“Not to gatekeep, but to safeguard.”
At last year’s PURVEYR Fair (@purveyrfair ), cultural journalist and DJ Sai Versailles (@sai.versailles ) led a conversation with DJs, producers, and nightlife organizers on the future of Manila’s dancefloors, touching on safer spaces, community, accessibility, and the tensions between growth and commercialization.
As nightlife continues to surge in the wake of post-pandemic “revenge partying,” the scene faces a paradox: it’s bigger than ever, yet increasingly difficult for the communities that built it to access.
Featuring insights from Javier Pimentel (Papa Jawnz @lui_pimentel ), Carlos Bondoc (Detalye @ddetalyee ), Edgy Teresa (EDGY @edgyteresa ), and Ayel Mari (@ayelmari ), the panel explored the question many in the scene are asking: How do you grow nightlife without losing what made it matter in the first place?

We’re deeply grateful to everyone who came through for our last dance of the year. It’s always great seeing familiar faces, and welcoming new ones too. We’re already excited to plan out the next year and share the dance floor with you all again.
Our heartfelt thanks to the talents and crew who helped bring this edition of 𝗛𝗠𝗔 to life: Jem, Josh, Charina, Grant, Mac, the Boogie + Tetsuo crew, and of course Decoder 「 @__decoder 」 , whose willingness to share energy and knowledge definitely has left its mark on our imprint.
