V1 objects. not subject. information extraction. not learning. project. not people. architecture. not politics. products. not preservation. individuality. not culture. it was racist. not persecutive but uses race as an objective identity for architectural forms. fuck the ideological project of boarder architecture that ignores the political charge. propaganda as a process of criticism towards the studio and as a concept to re-representing face value.

spring 2022 - fugitive practice w/ @jhaferd & @curryhackett What felt like a tipping point in my academic career was in the development of conversations into architecture. @alax.sp and I were assigned to create a tag at any scale- which we took as a opportunity to vent problems. In conversation with Rondela about her old, current, and new problems on society, blackness and women in architecture, to studio pedagogies; we proposed a tag that would only be made in conversation. Using different acrylic paint colors and natural hand gestures to create a hand that could give a reader a chance to see into someone's struggles. The final goal with the hand would be to paint over contested spaces like the bathroom, studio, etc to show where people are and where their problems go- but for semi legal reasons we used props....

Fall 2019 - Core 3 w/ Timothy M. Collins A semester focused on introducing analysis through the city’s block, street, and eventually, borough. The section was the second of four phases for this class- focused on the section of three blocks of a street. The hand drawing of 167 st street and Jerome Avenue, right off the B/D stop, was to be done at a 16th scale on a 6ft page of paper. As strange as it may sound, my drawing is focused on the trash and the advertisements found on site. I looked at how the site consisted of all these objects that didn’t seem to be part of the original planning. Like the signs on top of the buildings. The streets filled with bottles and cigarettes on the floor. The accumulation of trash in tree plots. The site seemed to be in a state of constant cultural flux in the cadaver of average architectural buildings. I later called the drawings ‘innocuous objects’ and my goal was to highlight the objects we see and ignore everyday.

Spring 2019 - Core 2 w/ Paul Ruppert In the first semester we were introduced to the conceptual development of architectonic ideas which was followed by its significance to quantifiable space, or in our case, the studio. Depicting the walls around us through materials, relative sizes, and functions was only the beginnings of architectural education. To be someone- somewhere- matters; and that has stuck with me since. Congruently, the lesson on the complexity of collaboration in architecture was an important theme. From thirteen students to sixty to parental faculty coordinators was a lot to process. Some things should have raised more questions to me earlier. Is collaboration a joint or supportive effort? Who is to gain from the project? Is architecture ‘he tells me this and I do it’? One thing is for sure, if you don’t speak up for yourself, nobody else will. (1) new drawing of the phase 1 studio model (2) physical 1/4” model (13 person collab) (3) physical 1/4” model of a desk on a desk (4) “OSHA approved” : 60 person intervention on the studio. (5) final 60 person intervention review (6) 3’x3’ model, not my favorite model.
